xref palette won't open in acad lt 2013 when I type the command "xref"

The xref palette won't open when I type "xref" in the command line.

I've been researching the problem online and one forum suggests going to

the "View" tab and then clicking on the external references icon on the "Palettes

panel of the View tab" to open it but the "Palettes panel" doesn't exist on the within the "View tab" drop down menu. Help!

Your External References Palette may be off-screen, particularly if you sometimes work with dual monitors. Here's a general tutorial for how to recover a Palette that's off screen.
