prime333 Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Hello, I'm wondering how can I upload a pdf file into autocad to display the pdf as a background into the viewport? Thank you. Quote
mikekmx Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 i just use the snapshot tool in acrobat reader & control+V to paste into AutoCAD. NB you can change the resolution of the acrobat reader snapshot tool in Edit>Preferences>General Quote
ReMark Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 PDFATTACH command assuming it exists in 2012. Quote
RobDraw Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 PDFs can be inserted using the XREF manager or the PDFATTACH command. Quote
dtkell Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Scaling and alignment can be a visual exercise if the pdf is a scanned image and not printed directly from cad. Quote
Dana W Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I prefer saving a RASTER PDF as a PNG file in photoshop and then IMAGEATTACH. Or, insert OLE object "Create from File" and use the png. Of course there is still the scaling issue. Quote

prime333 Posted March 25, 2015 Author Posted March 25, 2015 Ok I was able to upload the pdf into Autocad. Now I have a follow up question. How would I total the distance of multiple separate distances? For example using the measure command I can get the distance of a line. Furthermore I could use the distance command to get the distance of another line. How would I go about using Autocad so that I can get the TOTAL of multiple separate lines? Quote
Dana W Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 That's right, but you should leave it in pdf format for that. No vectors in a png image. Quote

You should probably post that question in a separate thread with a new title, since the function takes place in AutoCad whether it is in an attached file or not. More people will see and respond that way. Quote
