Tankman
Ouch! A recent HDD failure had me working for a day to reinstall programs, preferences, etc. Luckily I'm a bit religious doin' backups. Didn't loose any *.dwg and other data files. I seldom use '07. After reinstall, all's well but, I don't like the opening *.dwg blank with the xyz axis. I work 99.9% in 2D. Screen is light gray, xyz symbol, and the graph grid (angled naturally). How can I get back to the vanilla black screen showing only the xy for my curtain (opening) call? And keep it there as one of my preferences?
ReMark
Tools > Options > Files. Scroll down to Template Settings. Click on Default Template File Name for QNEW. Double-click the filename to display the Select File dialog box. Choose acad.dwt from list, then pick the Open button. Pick OK to close the Options dialog box. Exit AutoCAD. Now open AutoCAD again. Your screen should look different.
Tankman
Somehow I knew CT was working, as always. Worked as all your solutions do! Hope Mr. Claus was good to all up US 95! Thanks again from Pennsylvania!
ReMark
You're welcomed, Tank. I had to dust off the cobwebs for that one though.
Tankman
You're welcomed, Tank. I had to dust off the cobwebs for that one though. When I first worked with CAD vs. 2000 I tried the white background. Too much time previously on the board. I thought black was wrong. Now, only black background. I laugh when I see some of my 10 year old *.dwg files. Yuk! My work is mostly visual, plan view, elevation view, all 2D work from my end. Tanks, pipe, valves 'n such. All ANSI "stuff." A 4" flanged nozzle low sidewall on the tank, who cares? If a specific elevation dimension is required, we'll get it there. Specific orientation, that'll be there too. Of most importance are materials of construction; titanium, hastelloy, Teflon®, etc. Capacity and physical size are an issue. I've seen too many companies spec'ing "stuff" that wouldn't fit through their doors or are too tall to be erected in the facility. I have visited numerous forums, this is by far the most informative 'n helpful of 'em all. Members like yourself are Saints.
