dean1040 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I'm new to this so please be patient. I am working in auto cad 09. I have an existing drawing in isometric. I need to put a border around it in plan view. I think that is worded right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Quote
ReMark Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 The isometric should be in model space and the title block and border should be in a layout (formerly called paper space). You can handle that, right? Quote
dean1040 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Thanks, i'll try that. Like i said, i'm new to all this Quote

ReMark Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Any time dean. Another satisfied customer. Quote
dean1040 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 my boss is having a problem, he can't use trim in autocad08. he is able to on his laptop, but he just got a new desktop. Is there a way to turn trim off and on ? The drawing is in isometric, i think that the lines he wants to trim are not actually crossing. Just want some input before i tell him my opinion. Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Just my $0.02 If you find yourself creating a lot of linework drawings in 3 dimensions or isometrics it is probably time to create the objects as 3D solids. After a bit of practice you can slap a 3D model together in at most half the time of the 2D linework. Quote
ReMark Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I agree with you dean re: the lines not actually crossing. Tell the boss to go back to being the boss and let you handle the CAD work. It will be a decision he won't regret. Quote
dean1040 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 He just went to his laptop and everything worked. Then went back to his desktop and still can't get trim or extend to work. Are there any ideas about what to do? Quote
ReMark Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 None that come to mind. Usually the "normal" editting commands work like a charm. I think it is a case of operator induced error. Catch my drift? Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Assuming for a moment that the boss isn't a blathering moron...(If he's reading this I am only kidding of course) Perhaps the current UCS settings may have something to do with this mystery. Quote
