designerstuart Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 hi all - our company .dwt is blank except our favourite layers, styles etc. it is 2.7meg, but i don't know why. can anyone tell me why it is 2.5meg, or is that about right? link here as too large to UL https://www.dropbox.com/s/tp5jtzz78iqqhpd/Drawing4.dwg?dl=0 thanks Quote
ReMark Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 I am not on my CAD computer at the moment but the first thing I would check for is the presence of a large number of linetypes with the letters DGN somewhere in the name. These would have come from someone incorporating content first created in Microstation. Quote
Dadgad Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 (edited) It looks like all those linetypes are your problem. The screenshot only shows a very small part of the linebloat you are espousing. Need to open it in Autocad 2015 or newer, or try the linetype bloat tools on the Autodesk site. Carrying a lot of baggage there. Edited January 24, 2017 by Dadgad Quote
ReMark Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Linetypes! Hey, Dadgad, were they mostly DGN linetypes? Quote
Dadgad Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 I don't see DGN in their names, but there sure are a lot of them. If you look at the screenshot, a fair number of them look surprisingly similar. Quote
maratovich Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Solution: Run command line: (DICTREMOVE (namedobjdict) "ACAD_DGNLINESTYLECOMP") and _purge Save file, close, open. Reason for problem: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autocad-C2-AE-dgn-hotfix.html Quote
ReMark Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 maratovich: Are you saying you recognize the linetypes as having come from Microstation? Quote
maratovich Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 maratovich: Are you saying you recognize the linetypes as having come from Microstation? Maybe. I just can not say. I only suggest solutions. Quote
ReMark Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 So, in essence, you were offering the suggestion without first determining the facts? Sweet. Quote
maratovich Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Yes. it is impossible to determine exact problem. I saved the file to the .dxf. It opened in notepad. I found many descriptions DGN lines. I suppose that the author uses AutoCAD 2013-2014. Internet search revealed: http://through-the-interface.typepad.com/through_the_interface/2012/12/purging-unwanted-dgn-linestyle-data-from-an-autocad-drawing-using-net.html http://adn-cis.org/forum/index.php?topic=709.0 Found fix from Autodesk https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autocad-C2-AE-dgn-hotfix.html End. BIGAL Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Thanks maratovich, we are unlucky to get maybe 1 DGN a year. Quote
