samifox
as you know if you follow my posts, i have an mtext object carrying a field attached to a Point object, meaning a field that reading the Y value of that point object, i was thinking not to use the point but to read its own Y value is that possible? tombu
I've got code to insert a block that includes a point and attributes for Easting and Northing using fields to get those values from the point. No way out of having a separate object to reference.
steven-g
Here's a brain teaser for you, see if you can figure out how it's done. Pointless.dwg
tombu
Create one Mtext then a separate Field referencing the Mtext, the copy the value at the bottom of the Field dialog box and paste it into the Mtext? Do you have code to do that?
steven-g
No just manually, but then you only need do it once and copy it as needed. I actually just double clicked on the field selected the text (value) then double clicked on the mtext and pasted it in.

samifox
hi again, my field reading the Y coordinate of another object, when i convert to a block, it reads another Y. i assume its reading the block's local Y, it is possible to let it read the UCS y always?
