Polylines and snaps

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am new to CAD and had to take a test in school for it. I have a few questions.

1. What toolbar is the single polyline in? (it may not be single polyloine, but something close to that)

2. What makes the cursor go to a coordinate point? Is it called a gridline snap? Or just a snap?

If anyone could refer me to a website which has an in-depth guide, it would be greatly appreciated.

1. I think its in the draw toolbar, 80% sure. cause I use keybord to start a polyline

2. What do you mean by coordinate point? there are endless points on the modelspace?

Use HELP. Press F1. If you look up a command, it will tell you what toolbar it is on. There are some commands not on a toolbar.

Welcome bluepanther!

Like the Prof says, "Use HELP. Press F1."

Where are you posting from? Which version of AutoCAD are you using?

Typing in PL will save you some time in the future for drawing a polyline.

If you start a line and type in 450,400 the line will satrt at those cooridnates, but they are relative to where 0,0 is in Autocad. If you want to start at a particular point in a different coordinate system, you will need to have an actual point at those coordinates, then use SNAP to snap to the NODE.

Good luck
