Well, guys I have searched a bit and couldn't find anything new, and the download links from the other threads are pretty much broken. Anyway, I needed something to lock DWG files, from editing copying, and most of all, printting. Does anyone know if there's anything new for that matter?

Lockup.lsp ?

.... ooh... but there's nooooo waaaaaay you're gonna stop it printing!

Why would you need to lock it from printing? :?

The not printing does seem impossible.

In the office:

The only way for doing this could be a program that allows you to block certain filenames or extensions for plotting! I have never seen/heard something alike though. Even if this where possible you could just rename or convert to other extensions.

Sometimes we send our clients projects without closing the deal. Some (baaaaaad) clients send the project to other companies so they can budget it, and worst, sometimes the other companies charge cheaper, pretty much because they won't have to botter drawing the project and use our own project which makes the process cheaper by itself. Now, would you do that, if you couldn't print it? See what I mean?

I'm on construction business btw...

Yes they exist to unfortunately,

but don't you're drawings contain a text stating that its prohibited to copy and give to other without permission and stuff?

Just send them a pdf, that way they'll have to first reconvert them

AND then reassign layers/leaders/hatches as everythin gety turned

into polylines when backconverted from pdf to dwg - (Even TEXT) at

least that's what i've found.

I have been using PDF until now. The problem is that they get too damn slow according to the drawing complexity, which is not an issue on dwg files.

Well, they don't care much about that... Besides, I'm brazillian, they don't care about anything actually...

couldn't they just pop down to the local copy shop and get it scanned? We have had old A1 drawings scanned so it is possible.

Scan what? There's no drawing plot, just a locked dwg file. o.O Maybe I didn't follow you on that point...

Also, I agree with everybody, I know that there will be always some way to exploit the lockups, and well, steal information. All I wanna do is make it harder. >)

http://www.cadlock.com/products/CADVault/

You can control whether they can print or not, what they can see, etc.

Thanks for that, exactly what I needed.

Hey, updating, I have tried CADVault a few times and found it really interesting, althought some issues such as GIGANTIC dwg files after locking them up, and also really slow on every action made me search for another direction. I decided to follow the advise about using PDF plotting and then trying to lock the pdf and not the dwg itself, found an easy interface and really smooth operating software, yet shareware.

The web site is http://www.getpdf.com/ and the software is GetPDF encrypctor decryptor.

The direct download link:

http://www.getpdf.com/pdfed.exe

Allow you encrypting the pdf on every possible way, included the printing.

I know most people already know this or other software with the same utility, and as I have never used, I don't know if the Acrobat Writer doesn't do the encrypting itself. If it do, sry for the useless information. x)

No knowledge is useless to those who don't know. (Like me) so thanks for the update! :)
