The AutoCAD Blog

Can you believe we’re already on the verge of an entirely new decade in just a few short weeks? In light of that, we wanted to take a look back at all of the great AutoCAD news in 2019. We can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store.

AutoCAD 2020 and AutoCAD LT 2020

2019 brought the delivery of AutoCAD 2020 and AutoCAD LT 2020 with a host of new features and enhancements. There’s now the dark theme user interface that’s easy on the eyes. Performance improvements literally save you hours of time from quicker saves. The new Quick Measure tool measures 2D drawings simply by hovering your mouse. There’s also the redesigned Purge, enhanced DWG Compare, and a new Blocks palette that are all now available.

AutoCAD Partnership with Microsoft and Box

Who doesn’t love some integration news? Another huge component of AutoCAD 2020 news was the partnership of AutoCAD with Microsoft and Box. At the push of a button, you can quickly open any DWG file stored in Microsoft OneDrive, Sharepoint, and Box with the AutoCAD web app. The AutoCAD web app runs in the web browser on virtually any computer, so you don’t even need AutoCAD installed on your machine to be able to open, review, and edit your drawings.

AutoCAD 2020 for Mac and AutoCAD LT 2020 for Mac

AutoCAD 2020 for Mac and AutoCAD LT 2020 for Mac was also released this summer. In addition to the new Quick Measure tool, dark theme, and new Blocks palette, rollover tooltips are now available. And both Mac versions are now available in Korean for the first time!

AutoCAD 2020.1 and AutoCAD LT 2020.1 Update

One of the great benefits of subscribing to AutoCAD is not having to wait an entire year for any new enhancements or fixes. The release of the AutoCAD 2020.1 update delivered the new TEXTLAYER command, the ability to add multileader styles to Standards, improvements to the Blocks palette, updated 3D translators, and new security controls.

Downloading updates are easy. If you’re on AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT 2020, just accept the update right in the Autodesk Desktop App and you’ll be up and running with it immediately.

Have You Tried Brings New Insights in 2019

We also wanted to give a shout-out to our “Have You Tried” series produced by the AutoCAD team. Each month, they bring us the latest tips both new and advanced users alike. Among the topics uncovered include how to access drawings on mobile as well as the status bar in AutoCAD.

Looking Forward to 2020

Thanks to all of our new and loyal readers this year. We appreciate your comments, feedback, and ideas. Please keep them coming and we hope you’ll return in the new year for more AutoCAD news, tips, and tricks!
