What type of XREFs do you use... and why?

 

I almost always use Overlay...

I use Overlay when I don't want the xref carried forward if I xref that file into another.

 

I use Attach if I do want that xref to show in the next file xrefing that file.

 

This is what the two types were intended to be used for.

^ What rkent said. There's room for overlay, attach, and block insert.

In general an XRef for me is attached by default. When the drawing gets an engineer's seal all XRefs get binded as an insert.

This is what the two types were intended to be used for.

 

I understand how they work.

I was more interested in why folks use a particular method over another in specific situations.

I.E. Why would you want the xrefs carried forward in a specific situation...
