Hey @BIGAL

I noticed on some responses on this forum you indicated that you are using BricsCad. I am inquiring and evaluating BricsCad as a potential replacement for AutoCad.

I noticed that almost all the dynamic blocks I have (that is created and is working in Autocad) do not perform well in BricsCad; especially the ones that have parametric dimensions. I even sometimes have the visibility issues (names do not appear or shape changes upon changing the visibility).

I realize that block editing cannot be done in BricsCad, but is there a trick or a solution I could use to ease my pain?

I attached a dynamic block for you to open on Acad and Bcad and see the difference and see if your expert eyes see some quick fixes as I have thousands of blocks that THEN require simplification of modification.

I think my problem is "Constraint Parameters" going hay-wire in BricsCad.

Thanks.

If its steel shapes then something like this may be the easier way around.

Others will answer your questions about the dynamic blocks as its not something that I do much. But I will have a look

A quick look the angle you must know sizes rather than 50x50 100x100 50x100 and it knows the thickness. I have come from enter values and draw so would create a block of correct dimensions if not exist in the views required, 50x50x2545F etc for a 50x50 angle front elevation 2545 long.

@BIGAL

Thank you for your quick reply. I did come across the files you posted couple of months ago. The dynamic blocks I have posted have lists for available sizes so as I stretch them I am able to get the correct size and web thickness but having dimensional parameter constrains.

But the biggest problem I am facing is the use of these blocks in multiple visibilities instead (your example) of having to each time generate them then hatch and desired layer, so on . . .

Even bigger problem is projects that are coming back from a few years ago to be revised with the same blocks, this time modifying them in BricsCad!

You see, starting from scratch may be even a good idea but I have old projects to revise and hoped that some solutions could help make them acceptable in BricsCad as they go "wacky" if I open them in BricsCad (Constrain Parameter, in AutoCad, I believe is what it is called). I, myself, am no expert in block creation and all sort of way with dimension and dimensional equations but this is what is lacking in BricsCad. Do you have the same issue on this software for a more complex block?

Thank you again,

@Sambuddy,

Even though you are only evaluating Bricscad, you can still file a support request, they are very good at responding, so you should get an answer to your question long before your trial runs out.

Agree with Dahzee I asked a question and got a response back within 24 hours.

The idea behind Wisey is that you have a data set for each section type so pick a 50x50 angle and all the sizes are known you can then adjust your dynamic block via lisp to match these sizes. Its still a dynamic block so you can override manually in future.
