Explode dynamic block - multiple Visibility states - retain all elements

Recommended Posts

Is there a command for exploding a dynamic block with multiple visibility states, that retains all the elements in the states you can't see as well.

Tried BURST but this seems to be for preserving attributes.

Nope no command for that, you would need to go i nto the block editor and make everything visible which you can do with the command -bvstate this will let you create a new visibilty state and choose to show all objects within that state. But it isn't available from outside the block editor. Someone over at the lisp forum may know of a way to achieve this.

It may be possible with lisp to pull out every entity in the block and recreate it, a big task as stuff in a dynamic block may not be easy to get at. This little snipit will do some form of dump next step would be to recreate the object like Line pt1 pt2 the issue is the points are at a scale x y and rotation and at a different insertion point.

Not sure about invisible states.

; effective name of block make sure case sensitive

(vlax-for block (vla-get-blocks (vla-get-activedocument (vlax-get-acad-object)))
(if   (=  (vla-get-name block)  "bolt")
(vlax-for ent block
(princ (vla-get-objectname ent))
(princ "\n")
)
)
)

Tested on a couple of dynamic  blocks, really dont know what is missing.

OK thanks to both for the comments.

It seems to be a lot more difficult than I thought.

If you start with Burst.lsp that may give lots of clues how to do, not on my must do list sorry.
