The AutoCAD Blog Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 Work with electrical in AutoCAD? Want to save time in AutoCAD? If you’re not using the electrical toolset, you could be missing out on some incredible time-savings. Best part is it’s right at your fingertips as all of the specialized toolsets are now included with AutoCAD and your subscription. But how much time-savings is it really? A new productivity study designed by Autodesk and commissioned to an independent consultant explores ten common design challenges and shows direct comparisons of the time and effort required to accomplish each specific task with basic AutoCAD and AutoCAD with the Electrical toolset. The same tasks were completed up to 95%* faster on average using the Electrical toolset (depending on user expertise level with the Electrical toolset software and based on experience and training). Specifically, the study found: Creating new designs was 84% faster Editing existing designs was 77% faster Risk of errors was greatly reduced because of a 67% reduction in number of commands used In the chart below, you can see the type of tasks and how much easier it is to accomplish them with the Electrical toolset. You can read about each of these example tasks in-depth within the study. But, keep in mind, this is only the beginning with what you can do in the Electrical toolset. See the Electrical Toolset in Action If seeing is believing, you won’t want to miss this in-depth webinar with Shaun Bryant. Here, he’ll take you through electrical design examples in AutoCAD and demonstrate how easy it can be. And he even has a few “Harry Potter” moments that showcase the magic of the Electrical toolset. *Productivity data based on a series of studies commissioned by Autodesk to an outside consultant. The seven toolset studies compared basic AutoCAD to the specialized toolsets within AutoCAD when performing tasks commonly done by experienced AutoCAD users. As with all performance tests, results may vary based on machine, operating system, filters, and even source material. While every effort has been made to make the tests as fair and objective as possible, your results may differ. Product information and specifications are subject to change without notice.
