CAD Monitor Recommendations

muck

Recommended Posts

All,

Right now I am using a TV for a CAD monitor at work.

I guess you know they have poor resolutions.

Does anyone know a good CAD monitor that would be

about the same price as a TV set.

Thank you,

Very much depends on where you are in the world, HP, DELL. ACER, Lenovo etc

Any reasonable computer supplier will be able to help. Just had a look 23.5" curved AUS $145 to say Samsung 49" QLED AUS $1999.

I would suggest dual screens perhaps rather than1 big one but honestly have not used say a 32"+ screen apart from TV. You may get some cheap second hand dual where a end user has updated. Have seen 3 running very impressive for road design, all 3 updating as design is amended.

Yeah, that is kind of like saying "can you tell me what a good car is?"

What is your budget?

Where are you located?

What is the minimum size you want?

Lots of variables.

FWIW -  most all of our CAD users have (2)-27" HP monitors, around US$500 for both

I have a 24" Asus VG248QE that I bought about 4 years ago. I'm not sure if you can still buy them in store, but I just checked Amazon and found a seller with a few of them for sale. $339

I also have a 27" LG 27GN600-B that I bought about a year ago. $329

Why not just go the wall just found 4k 75"

Sitting a meter away, that already seems pretty large.

I wouldn't care to block portions of the windows on both sides, which appreciable upsizing would.

When occasionally I have to work elsewhere I certainly do miss my big screen.

I don't mean to suggest that would be appropriate for everybody, just

trying to supply the OP with an informative resource.

I just noticed that the earlier link I posted was from 2017, so here is a much more current

comparison and evaluation of TVs in use as PC Monitors.

They'll have to pry my Dell U3818DW out of my cold dead hands! ;)

I am reminded of the scene in Men In Black, where the farmer says he could have his pickup

truck over his dead body.  To which the alien responds, "your terms are acceptable."

Yep, that looks pretty sweet!

I like having two monitors rather than one super large display. It's easy to maximize the AutoCAD graphics window on one of the displays and use the other for a variety of options including AutoCAD panels (properties, layers,...), help files, email, reference documents, etc. keeping your main CAD area clean and unobstructed.  Of course you can always stretch the AutoCAD window to fill the two monitors (something I rarely want to do). You can get a couple of 20" Dell monitors for less than $200 USD each.

I've been using Philips 328E9QJAB 32″ Curved Frameless Monitor and it is one of the best monitors I've used. One of my friend suggested me this monitor and I'm using this monitor for a year now I regret nothing. If you want to go with this I'm 100% sure you will not regret it.

2 monitors is they way to go unless you go with 3 or 4 monitors. (2 is very common for reasons below)

     1- CAD drawing

2- CAD windows (Properties & etc.....)

3- your other files (E_Mail, Internet, Etc.....)

4- Why not (If you can)

ASUS are great monitors, minimal frame edge

Samsung has great panels

1920 x 1080p is all you need, refresh speed is nice.

You can get a really good panel for $250 - $300, or a really good for $400+

Good Luck in your search.

PS- the prices are pre-pandemic, I haven't looked at any since the pandemic start.
