SMP Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Afternoon All. I have points that were given to me in grid and I now need to scale them to ground. Is this possible in Civil 3D? I feel like this is an incredibly basic and fundamental feature this software should have available but i am striking out finding it. I have asked a few friends and they have given me a number of work arounds but those work arounds seem to consistently scale the Z value as well. Not a desired result. I see in the points editor there is a column that reads "X-Y scale" however when i enter anything into those fields and regen nothing happens to my points. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? What am I missing? Quote
TRogers Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 What you will need to do is go into a blank drawing, and set the state plane coordinate system in Edit Drawing Settings. Once it is set, click on the Transformation tab. There, check the box for Apply Transform Settings. To the right, under Grid Scale Factor, change it to User-Defined, then enter your scale factor in the box. Click OK, then import the points. The factor should be applied. Unfortunately, you can't just apply this and it moves the points. You must set these settings, then import the points. Quote

I also found this old link about 5 mins ago I am currently in the process of trying. EDIT: Helps to share the link http://www.civil4d.com/2009/10/scale-your-points-keep-the-elevations/ Edited April 13, 2021 by SMP Forgot link. Quote

I end up with the point at the original location, but additional information about a grid that makes no sense. for example: Northing=1301813.3690' Scale Factor=0.99972474629, Northing Scaled=-44104.0502' I'm trying to go from Ground to Colorado State Plane North US feet. Pointdump Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Here's another option, a >>>Custom Ground Coordinate System<<<. Quote
