Crossing / Broken contour lines - How to fix them?

Recommended Posts

Please find attached the csv and a screenshot to illustrate my issue (The .dwg file is too large to attach). As you can see in the screenshot when I ctrl + click the contour it's not one continuous one and is broken. And there are lots of contours crossing over each other.

How can I clean this sort of thing up for the entire lidar survey?

The lidar data can be imported in the surface via Definition>Point files as XYZ_LIDAR Classification (comma delimited).

Thanks in advance.

Command PEDIT
choose MULTIPLE
select everything
then JOIN
and enter a FUZZ distance (size of the gaps where the lines are broken)

Thanks but these contours are generated from the lidar data and aren't polylines. They are part of the surface style.

If its CIV3D can use exporttoautocad surface is one of the options to be converted so end up with plines.

Thanks BIGAL. Wouldn't that be the same as exporting the contours when I select the surface and choosing Extract from surface?

I was looking to see if there was a way fixing the surface in Civil 3d if that's possible. Seems strange to me that there doesn't seem to be a tool to fix this type of thing.

Its possibly a hang up from the fact that your data is grids so get little bow ties as 2 contours.

Thanks. I would assume this is a regular occurrence as this is the first lidar data I imported, so I was hoping for an easy fix.

I'm just not seeing anything that needs fixing. I tried 2 ways.

I put your CSV file into CloudCompare and saved as a LAS. After running the LAS file through ReCap, I created a surface in C3D.

Also added the CSV file to a suface in C3D.

How about a link to your drawing file. Use WeTransfer or DropBox, etc.
