Bricscad v23

Recommended Posts

When the topic of the so-called 3D toothbrush came up, I initially posted an image, for demonstration purposes, to explain a basic concept.  As the discussion progressed, I felt I could do better, help-wise, if I was using an actual CAD program so in the interest of expanding my knowledge, and trying something different, I downloaded and installed Bricscad v23 (64-bit).  As a long time (better than 30 years) user of AutoCAD I immediately felt right at home.  I was very impressed with the functionality and design of the program.  The subsequent image of a 3D toothbrush was produced using Bricscad.  It's been an interesting few days trying my hand at Bricscad and Blender.  I can't begin to tell you how I loved doing this type of work.

As you say Bricscad V23 has just been released and some Black friday deals are out there, remember when you buy you do not have to renew every year or pay rent. Bit like you I am on V20 which does everything I need to do.

I wish I could justify buying but at this time it was merely downloaded to help out.  After the 30-day trial period runs out that will be that.

I work primarily with Civil Engineers and residential development ...

BricsCAD v23 includes several new and upgraded features that are or have helped me perform a few tasks much quicker and more easily. BLOCKIFY turned at least ten hours into 2 minutes reblocking a huge number of exploded blocks on a single project. CONNECT is pedit-join, only better. I am currently modifying a couple of specific workflows away from Civil Site Design and Civil 3D to utilize the BricsCAD Tin and a couple of lisp routines that will turn a difficult hour or two into an easy couple of minutes. That is all 🙂

I know, reblocking is not a word 😕

Look into Civil Site Design for Bricscad, if your a civil designer you will not look back, used it for years. It has way more functions than just the TIN, Surface modelling, Roads, Drainage and sewerage. They are a close development partner with Bricscad.

There is a webinar and shows CSD working with Bricscad and it really shows the power of the software, I am trying to find link.

Here is another one using CSD Civil engineers | BricsCAD Industries (bricsys.com) https://www.bricsys.com/en-au/industries/civil-engineers

Start here you can download a trial version, https://civilsurveysolutions.com.au/ they should be able to point you to the other more extensive webinar about making roads and carparks.

I am a current user and huge fan of Civil Site Design. I agree with your assessment :-)

The workflows I am modifying are very small and specific. We utilize CSD for road, pipe networks, and subdivision design.
