Moving Nested Layers within a Block to a New Layer

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Is there a way that nested layers within a block can be pushed to a new layer of choice without manual intervention?

The only way currently is to use the Block Editor and manually move them over.

I was looking for a way to speed this up if possible.

I'm using ACAD 2022 :)

Thanks in advance

The recommended way to change object properties inside a block is to put the objects on layer 0 and define their properties as ByLayer. When you change the insertion layer for the block itself, those objects inside will inherit the properties of that layer. That way you don't have to edit the block to change layers or properties.

If you have a finite number of choices for properties, look into dynamic blocks. You can create a visibility state for each option.

If you have an arbitrary number of choices, well, someone else will have to tackle that.
