Macro to copy from one layer to another

The way I structure my architectural drawings, I have multiple layers for each floor level.  The names and properties are identical other than each name will start with the associated level "Ground walls" for example.

Is it possible to create a macro that would copy everything from "Ground walls" to "Second walls"?

My current workflow is to create a copy of all the elements on the "Ground *" layers then quick select by layer and relocate to the similar "Second *" layer.

Any assistance would be welcome.

The use of ssget "GROUND*" is easy, so get all objects the question that needs answering is where do we put copy, for me copy the objects move to 1 side then change layer of all those objects, but then what ? Leave them there put them back on top of Ground* ??

 

Post a dwg we need something to test.
