block copy paste to different drawing acting wierd

i have one drawing, with a block for the background. i ended up editing it in place. copied the block and went to the next drawing and pasted.

 

the block that it pasted was the original(before my editing)

 

i purged, audited. saved. closed cad, opened. repeated the copy paste. no luck.

 

any ideas?

OK, I may be barking up the wrong tree, but have you checked that the Block doesn't already exist somewhere in the 'New' Drawing? Naturally, if it was existing it would use the definition in that drawing.

 

One easy way to get over the problem is to rename the Block in your original drawing and then try the copy/Paste again. There's a couple of other options, but that one will at least circumvent the existing block name if it's already in the drawing. If this comes in OK, then you need to explore your 'New' Drawing further to find and eliminate the Block (if you really want to).

I'd expect it to also be an issue of duplicate naming. Have you assigned the block a fairly common name that is often used in other drawings; particularly the one you are trying to insert into?

 

You can also use design center to import your new and update any existing blocks in the current drawing with the same name. I don't recommend that here.
