Bill Tillman Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I'm having difficulty with this one. I need to extrude a shape along the path that is formed by the magenta lines in this drawing. But in trying to join them all into one 3DPolyline I keep hitting the wall. The lines are in different planes. Can anyone offer some pointers here? Polyline-Issue.dwg Quote
hoss Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 how about extruding the shape along side each part of the path and join all of the with union. Quote
Bill Tillman Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 Yes, I tried that but it did not yield the desired results. The intent is to extrude the shape along this curved path using the center of the top surface of the shape as the reference. When I did this it came close to getting there but the curved surface near the back lost its contact with the top surface along the line. I tried several variations of this method but it just doesn't get what's needed. Quote
CarlB Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 There is a gap between 2 of the arcs, this may be part of the problem. For a slow, approximate method you could draw a 3dpoly over the lines/arcs, snapping to "End" & "nea". using "divide" on the object first would give you some points to snap to. Quote
Bill Tillman Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 SWEEP is so sweet....The ***** is mine now! I used your method of DIVIDE first and then constructed the 3DPOLYLINE needed. Extrude keep failing with "Unable to extrude the selected object" errors, but then I tried SWEEP and viola...! Quote
