ajdesign
I am modelling a small roofing exercise for my carpentry students. I have set up the wallplate on which the roofing members rest. There are three common rafters which run from that wall plate to the point of the roof. Now what I want to do is bring in two hip rafters. The problem is that I cannot define or rotate the angle of these hip rafters as they are running on a different plane to the other members. I have a feeling that I need to redefine the UCS or is there another method of doing this next step.
ReMark
You got it exactly right. The UCS must be reoriented. AutoCAD gives you several options for doing so. Personally, I like using the 3-point method. I'm sure other forum members will weigh in with their suggestions. Mine may not be the best solution. Cad64
Ajdesign, please update your profile and specify what version of Autocad you are running. Older versions don't have a lot of the features that are available in the newer releases. In order for you to receive the best possible advice, we need to know what you're working with. ajdesign
I'd love to but I cannot find the place where you update the profile!
Cad64
1. Click "User CP" on the toolbar above 2. Click "Edit Profile" in the Control Panel 3. Choose your "Autodesk Product" and "Version" 4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Save Changes"
