WUDMonkey Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Hi guys! I'm new to the forum. I am working in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009 and today a co-worker and I were trying to troubleshoot a problem he was having. When he types "XREF" at the command prompt he recieves a reply of "unknown command". Not only have we not found a solution, in the process we apparently changed a setting in my software (civil 3D) that has my xref dialogue box looking primative. Does anyone know what may be going on here? Thanks, Matt in South Florida Quote
wannabe Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 In vanilla CAD there is a variable, something like CLASSICXREF, that alternates between current and classic Xref manager dialogs. As for a command not working, I would probably check out the alias manager and see what keyboard shortcut the command was mapped to and then if that didn't work I'd try a repair. Quote
WUDMonkey Posted March 19, 2009 Author Posted March 19, 2009 At the risk of sounding ignorant:cry: ,......how do I initiate a repair? Quote
wannabe Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 It's one of the installation options. Just pop in the disk i think or go to add/remove programs. I normally let IT get stuck in whilst I drink white tea and act pretentious. Quote
Peter K Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Vanilla = plain, basic, unaltered, not enhanced Quote
chulse Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 what is vanilla CAD ? Regular, normal AutoCAD. Not a vertical product like Civil3D... As usual...5 minutes too late... Quote

WUDMonkey Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 I solved it guys! I found my SDI (Single Document Interface) variable was set to . I reset it to and the XREF dialogue box returned to the format I had been using. I don't know if there was a direct relationship for this but I do know that our department has issues (network related) and at times we encounter strange glitches. I am new to the forum and I want to thank everyone for thier quick responses. I only hope that one day soon I can return the favor. Thanks, Matt in South Florida Quote
