Thanks ReMark

I still have a hard time understand the real works behind the UCS.

I understand what it's purpose is - but my slow mathmatical brain is struggling with the concept while I start using the 3D. I understand it's almost like a CNC where 0,0 is the corner and I guess the third 0,0,0 would be a Z? Coming out at the screen... I dunno - but thank you for your reply in the thread I appreciate it.

Hi

I am trying to draw an extended right angle pipe to go onto my 3d pump. I am struggling on how to go about drawing this and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know all the dimensions for the drawing but i cant seem to get it on the bend.

Thanks for any help you can give!

Attached a little *.dwg, 2" PVC pipe w/ 90° elbow.

Might this be what you're lookin' for? 8)

How's the windy city today?

You do have the UCS icon showing don't you?

Hey Tankman!

Thanks for the pipe - I was able to create it already on my own but I do appreciate you taking the time to post something for me to maybe use in the future.

The Windy City is okay - been inside most past few weeks. lol but it's here - How's the wonderful state of Pennsylvania - I used to drive truck through there...

Chilly in Pennsy today.

Was goin' to do a little work, bah humbug, surfin' the www and visiting cadtutor.

I did most of the piping and chemical storage tanks in Chicago's WWTP (waste water treatment plant) years ago.

For AutoCAD 2006 I would recommend enabling the UCS and View toolbars as they can come in quite handy when doing 3D work.

Excellent! I appreciate that tip!

I did have my View toolbars on so I could swap around in the 3D easier - once I realized going to the toolbar and selecting the views all the time was time-taking.

I also realized it would help me learn the views and icons faster by having them up front on the work area :)

I did not have the UCS Icon up - but it is now - and thank you for the knowledge. I will take any I can get - you have been VERY helpful along with everyone else and I have much gratitude to the entire CADTutor site.

Thanks again! :D

I really appreciate your thread reply along with the others - the weather was colder today this morning and it was a little damp starting from the rain last night - along with the cloudy darkened sky I am not sure what the outlook will be -

however I assume I will be in my house today just searching the WWW for a new job while I work on these side-drawings for some quick cash.

Now I know why you call yourself the Tankman :)

You designed the layout for the waste system of chi? or was this for a specific company? I would sure like to know more about your work - It must have been some extensive and seriously insane layout to pipe this city!!!

Very interested in that - give me a shout sometime... and thanks for your help and replies :)

Was tanks, pipe, valves for chemical storage at Chicago WWTP (wastewater treatment plant).

In 40+ years, lots of tanks, pipe 'n valves. Lots of work in Illinois and around the globe.

I usually use PVC or CPVC pipe however, depending on conditions, quite a bit of lined steel pipe too.

I use an add on for CAD pipe and valves. Very handy!

The add on also generates a bill of materials including weight of each item.

Oh that is great - so straight from design to invoice ----
