cvriv.charles Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Not that im stuck,... yet. I do have a question about a technique. I am working on creating the 2D sketch of the impeller blade. I am currently creating the two curves, R387 and R289. Now I could just create 2 circles with radii of 387 and 289 but using the center arch seems to make more sense. The only thing is that I can't figure out how to get the arch to snap to the D610 circle at the point at which the arch passes through it. Can I even do that or do I have to pass through and just trim?!?! Quote
JD Mather Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 ... Can I even do that or do I have to pass through and just trim?!?! Pass through and trim excess or add coincident constraint has always been more reliable for me. Quote
cvriv.charles Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 Pass through and trim excess or add coincident constraint has always been more reliable for me. I'll have to try it again using the coincident constraint method you mentioned. I just oversho the circle and trimmed. Well,... I finished the impeller. Here's mine. You know it's a shame theres a 250k limit in uploads. Only good for uploading pics. Anyways. Thanks JDM. Oh how do I smooth out the iso lines? Quote
cvriv.charles Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 I noticed that I can't delete anyting fromt he browser that was used only to build the impeller. Things such as the workaxis and plane. the coil surface. Whay can I not delete these things? JDM, you have a PM. Quote
eribiste Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 If you want to get rid of the Work Axis, Work Planes or other model making aids from the depicted model, don't delete them. Find the feature in the Model Browser, RMB the icon for the plane or WHY then uncheck Visibility. The offending depiction will disappear, but is still in the model for any subsequent modification. The impeller looks very good BTW. Quote
JD Mather Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 You know it's a shame theres a 250k limit in uploads. Only good for uploading pics. In the browser you will find a red End of Part marker. If you click an drag that EOP marker all the way to the top of the browser above any user created features and then save the file it will be much much smaller. On the other end the user simply drags the EOP marker back down to rebuild the geometry. . Oh how do I smooth out the iso lines? Applications>Inventor Studio>Render Inventor (Pro/E, SolidWorks, ...) are history based modelers. You cannot delete a parent feature of a child feature any more than you could exist without your parents first existing. You must not have read my paper on the BORN Technique yet. I have suggested you read that paper several times. In the attached I have simplified the sketches a bit (only 2 instead of 3 and fewer construction lines as you seem to be bothered by them). Pull down the red End of Part marker step-by-step and check the sketches as well as the features. You might also try ToolsApplication Options>Display and turn off the Edge Display if it bothers you. cvriv.charles Posted April 20, 2009 Author Posted April 20, 2009 With time I will get more of a feel for it and will be able to cut down on a lot of stuff. Quote
gbradley Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 That's gorgeous. How do you get that Chrome finish? Quote
JD Mather Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 That's gorgeous. How do you get that Chrome finish? There are several different Chrome finishes in Inventor. Upper right corner of screen. Quote
gbradley Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 That's Cool I can see the Yellow Mini Cooper in the background. I couldn't see that pull down button in my tool bar for some reason. http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=11508&stc=1&d=1240255757 Quote
JD Mather Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 If you don't like that Mini Cooper reflection go to Tools>Application Options>Color tab (Inventor 2009 and later) and change the Reflection Environment file name. Quote
gbradley Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Thanks, I am installing Inventor 2010 Suite right now, so the issue with only being able to see half of the pull-down button on the toolbar will probably go away. I kinda like the Mini, it gives the reflection realism. I have been using MDT in the past, but I am now trying to Learn Inventor, as time allows, because eventually MDT will no longer be supported. JD Mather Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 ...so the issue with only being able to see half of the pull-down button on the toolbar will probably go away. Looks to me like a screen resolution problem 1024x768 is not enough. Quote
gbradley Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Looks to me like a screen resolution problem 1024x768 is not enough. Yes it does show up @ 1280 x1024. IV2010 is a whole 'nother world. The Toolbars are completely different. So Far, I like what I see, of course I don't know what I'm looking at. The Mini, and the Saab are still there... for now. Quote
