File Open option / 'F' keys shortcuts

Greetings,

I have a couple of problems with Autocad 2008 and have not had any luck trying to resolve them.

1) When I click the open button an open command shows up in the command dialogue box at the bottom and I have to enter the path and file name manually which is a pain because I can't save as either so I've resorted to opening files from windows explorer which I don't want to have to keep doing. Can anyone help with this?

2) My 'F' keys don't seem to work esp F3 (osnap) and F8 (ortho) and I can't find how to sort this in the help options. Again can anyone help?

These may seem trivial but they are causing me some grief so I would be grateful if anyone can help.

Many thanks. Bunty.

for 2) - does your keyboard have double function F keys? If it does, you may just need to hit the F lock key to switch to the usual functions.
