X11start Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I Working with AutoCAD LT 2026, after about 1 hour the saving becomes very slow. I use the 'Purge' command and also 'Audit', but the only way to continue is (after the long wait for saving), to exit and re-enter AutoCAD. Quote
mhupp Posted May 7 Posted May 7 (edited) I don't know if your using lisp in the save process. 2026 and newer has a bug that if command is used inside of loops it balloons the run time. something that took 0.5 sec at the most could take 200+ sec. or it might be a new different bug! https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-forum/autocad-2026-slow-vs-2023/td-p/13649249 Quote Until now, I've been using AutoCAD 2023, everything's fine, no issues at all. I decided to update to version 2026, and everything is running very slowly, barely able to work. As a reference, I'm using a DWG file that takes up 48MB. It has multiple 3D blocks. Once opened in 2023, it takes up 1.5GB of RAM, but in 2026, it takes up 14GB!!! 10 times more. What could be happening? I know windows 11 takes about 6-10 gigs to run so if you only have 32 gigs of ram. This might be why its run really slow. -edit Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open task manager. then click on preformance to see Memory, CPU, GPU Usage. Edited May 7 by mhupp Quote
X11start Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 It is slow with any DWG file. It seemed to have improved a bit after giving the 'Wblock' command, to export the drawing to a new file... but then continuing to work on it for half a day, everything becomes slow again as before. I checked: memory usage is 40% on a 3 MB file. Quote
X11start Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 I tried to check which versions of .Net are installed: it seems unusual to me that the latest is 4.0.3 (the version 10 came out in April!). My colleagues with the same versions have no problems. It might be advisable to install more recent versions: I'm afraid of causing damage! Quote
mhupp Posted Monday at 04:56 PM Posted Monday at 04:56 PM Haven't been on AutoCAD for a while. maybe try GC command to free up memory might help. use mem at the start when its nice and fast and when it is starting to slow down. https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACDLT/2026/ENU/?caas=caas/documentation/ACD/2014/ENU/files/GUID-F4AEB953-2117-4BF2-8056-EA1384AC3FFF-htm.html Quote
X11start Posted Wednesday at 01:50 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 01:50 PM Incredible: it seems that (GC) works! I think I last used this command on a 486! Thank you very much! Quote
BIGAL Posted yesterday at 01:19 AM Posted yesterday at 01:19 AM Not sure why moderators missed this, which is the correct version your using, 2012 or 2026. A good idea is to update version if it's different to what is showing. Quote

The OP mentioned the version they were inquiring about in the thread title and the first post as well as posted in the AutoCAD LT Forum. Some people may use more than one version. Quote
