Morning all,

When i use the wipeout command rather than background mask in the Mtext window and plot my layout as a pdf, for some reason the wipeout prints as a black block. Is there a solution for this?

Thanks

Dave

Hi Scubado do a search on wipeouts and pdfs.

I'm sure there are numerous threads on this topic. Some suggesting different pdf plotters

Yeah, do a search... one solution is to make a DWF & convert to PDF from that.

unfortunately I don't think there's a solution to this problem.

Is there a reason why you're specifically using a wipeout as opposed to a textmask? Also do you get the same problem if you use a textmask?

whoops. my mistake, it is infact text mask that I'm using and not wipeout. so why does text mask print black?

i think my brain is going cos i've just handed my notice in!

Textmask just uses a wipeout by default so it's the same problem. You could try one of the other options in the masktype option but I don't recommend textmask anyway... leaves a very messy drawing when you come to edit it.

I have no idea- don't use it often for PDF's but just textmasked all the text on the drawing I'm currently working on, plotted to PDF and it's as I would expect, no visible black blocks...

I guess there must be a variable or something which controls opacity or something??? :?

You are probably correct.

Are you using AutoCAD's DWG to PDF.pc3 plotter driver? You will not be able to do it with that, I do not believe. Though the DWF>PDF might help.

You may find some third party Pdf plotters to plot the Wipeout/Textmask. You need to search the forum and see if anyone has done this.

Check this thread....

I'm not sure what you're saying there.

I'm just saying what I'm using to plot to PDF...

When I go to plot, change the name to PDF Creator, the Plotter listed is that which I mentioned above in quotes...

Double-Click it to open properties and select white or other and type in 255 in General>colors.

I'll try that.

One other question, once i've used text mask I don't seem able to edit the text and am only selecting the boundary of the text mask. Should I still be able to edit the text?

Double click it and Properties will open, at the top it will say "All(2)" in a drop down list, select MText and modify it in Properties.

Use the WC command. Just type WC in the command line of all related drawings and Xrefs and that should fix it. Dont ask me what it stands for as i have no idea, but it works. I hope this helps.

I get "Unknown command "WC". Press F1 for help." Could this be a LISP?

I get the same thing SLW, I think this is a Lisp that someone has put on there server and cadgt is unaware.

Use the color 255.

And in your plotstyles (if you are using CTB) set the screening for color 255 at about 10%

Use the color 255.

That's it! Thanks. So if i set up a layer called TEXT MASK, set the colout to 255, make it current, will the masks all come out correctly?

Cheers guys.
