thegodplato Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Hi, I have several versions of my company's logo and when I paste them into my border I end up with a black line around the logo in the shape of a rectangle. I've tried alsorts of ways to get rid of the line and the thing that gets anywhere near is to insert an OLE object but even then I get a grey line on the left hand side of the logo. Obviously I'm doing something wrong so please please help, its getting frustrating!!! Quote
Glen1980 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 We had this problem at work. The best we've been able to do is select the line and make it a pen 254 so the line is fainter. A guy who used to work here managed to convert it into a DWG, but I can't ask him which programme he used, maybe try googling JPG to DWG. Quote
ReMark Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I'm all for transitioning the logo over to a CAD version. Notice that I did not say "convert". I don't trust PDF to DWG conversion to provide good results. Post your company's logo so we can see what you are dealing with. Quote
Quagga Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 If your logo is an image, try setting 'IMAGEFRAME' to 0 (zero). This will remove the rectangle from your logo. Quote
Glen1980 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 If your logo is an image, try setting 'IMAGEFRAME' to 0 (zero). This will remove the rectangle from your logo. Works with LT! I can smarten up our older title blocks now. Quote
irneb Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Please note that setting ImageFrame=0 makes it near impossible to select images. You can set ImageFrame=2, which means display the frame, but don't plot it. Quote
CyberAngel Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Since I'm not familiar with LT, I may be wrong about this, but couldn't you use TFRAMES to toggle the border on/off? Quote
ccowgill Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Since I'm not familiar with LT, I may be wrong about this, but couldn't you use TFRAMES to toggle the border on/off? TFRAMES I believe is an express tool, and I do not believe LT has express tools. Quote
f700es Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I am with ReMark, I would transfer your bitmap/raster logo to a Vector logo. Quote
thegodplato Posted December 6, 2010 Author Posted December 6, 2010 Imageframe has worked nicely. Thanks Quote
irneb Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I'd also advise as ReMark. Your absolute best bet would be to re-make your logo into ACad entities. It would cause the least possibility of problems in the long run. I've seen quite a few hassles with images comming up as black rectangles in PDFs and such. But it's going to be quite a big job if your logo is complex, in which case the quickest solution would be to keep as an image and then just ensure that ImageFrame=2. BTW, a "quick" way to get hold of the outline(s) in an image is to open it in either PhotoShop or Gimp. Then use the wizard selection tool, save the selection as a path & export to either AI or SVG files. If AI you then need Illustrator, if SVG use Inkscape. Both of these have export filters to DXF/DWG. I'd rather go this route than trying one of the "automatic" raster to vector converters - which would give inconsistent results if the logo is more involved than simple shapes. As an example, see my post about creating borders for images using Gimp/Inkscape/AutoCAD in this thread: http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?53155-Creating-Illustrator-Blocks-from-Images Quote
Daftlad Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I have been creating a new company drawing boarder for the past week and have been trying different things. I imported the company logo into the drawing and set the IMAGEFRAME to 2. I wanted to BIND the image to the drawing as i am one of three in the design team and the other two designers both use laptops. This ment we could not open each others drawings as the XREF for the image was in a different location. I gave up. I created a new Boarder and basicly traced around the image and made it into a block. Jobs a good'n. Quote

You've got 2 options if you need to use images:- Have the path to the image relative to the drawing, then you just need to have the same folder structure ... not the same drive letters and base folder. - Insert the image by copy-n-paste so it becomes an embedded OLE. Then you use OLEFRAME=2 instead. But there may be some hassles when plotting, since each PC may have a different program used to open JPG/PNG/BMP/GIF/TIFF ... which sometimes works fine and others not so fine. Quote
f700es Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Bingo! That's why it's always best to use a vector logo. Like you said, just trace around it as best you can. Quote
ReMark Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Post the logo so we can see it please. Thank you. Quote
Daftlad Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 This is the finished Logo. Once printed it comes out nice. Quote
ReMark Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I don't see why the logo couldn't be done in AutoCAD. Quote
Daftlad Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 sorry this is the Logo i have produced in CAD. Quote
ReMark Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I should have been more clear. I was asking the OP to post a copy of his logo. My mistake. Sorry. Quote
Daftlad Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 ahh its okay. We can use this one as an example Quote
