Chaos Group Releases V-Ray 5 for Rhino
liaisonpr posted a topic in RhinoLive Real-Time Visualization Provides Immediate Feedback, Speeding Up Design Iterations Before the Final Render LOS ANGELES, Calif. – November 19, 2020 – Today, Chaos Group released V-Ray 5 for Rhino, a powerful new update that brings real-time rendering into Rhino and Grasshopper. Designers can now use visualization in every part of the design process, from initial concepts to final renders, all within V-Ray for Rhino. Real-Time Visualization with V-Ray Vision V-Ray Vision is a live scene viewer that updates in real-time, allowing Rhino and Grasshopper users to build models, apply materials and set up lights and cameras with immediate feedback. Encouraging fast, fluid design visualization throughout a project, V-Ray Vision helps users work through new ideas and client feedback from start to finish, with the ability to quickly snapshot images or output animation at any time. Automatic Scene Lighting With the new Light Gen tool, a variety of lighting options are generated automatically and displayed as a series of thumbnails, making it easier to find the best look and mood for a scene. Light Gen produces dozens of physically based lighting variations for each project using the Sun and Sky system and a wealth of included HDRI images. Beyond Rendering The redesigned V-Ray Frame Buffer (VFB) now includes some of V-Ray 5’s most user-friendly features, making it easy to apply finishing touches to any rendering. With Light Mix, users can interactively change the color and brightness of any light without rendering again, creating multiple lighting scenarios from a single render. Image adjustments like exposure control, color balance and color corrections can also be added, replacing the need for external image editing tools. For extra control, render layers can be combined using the Layer Compositor to create more nuanced looks, which can be saved as presets for later use. Other New Features in V-Ray 5 Include: ● Expanded Grasshopper Support – V-Ray for Grasshopper is included with V-Ray for Rhino for real-time visualization, photorealistic rendering and animation. Now for the first time, users can visualize their Grasshopper designs in real-time with the new Live Link component for V-Ray Vision. ● High-Resolution Material Library – The popular V-Ray material library has been expanded and upgraded with V-Ray 5’s new layering controls and texture randomization features. Texture resolutions have also been increased to 4K. ● New Sun and Sky – Improves accuracy across the board, including when the sun is near the horizon, right before sunrise and after sunset. New controls have also been added to allow users to easily customize the sun position. ● Coat Layer – Gain extra reflections on surfaces without using blend materials. ● Sheen Layer – Easily simulate fabrics like velvet, satin and silk. ● Dirt and Weathering – New controls for aging materials with procedural streaks have been added to the V-Ray Dirt Material. ● Texture Randomization – Now easier to create subtle variations in textures and materials for added realism. ● Stochastic Texture Tiling – An automatic fix for repeating textures. ● Line Renderings – Give renders an illustrative look by adding linework with global contour controls and material overrides. For a full feature tour, please visit the V-Ray 5 for Rhino product page. Pricing and Availability V-Ray 5 for Rhino is available and compatible with Rhino 6-7. A perpetual license is priced at $790, with upgrades available for $395. Term licensing is available at $350 (annually) and $60 (monthly). V-Ray 5 for Rhino is also included in V-Ray Collection, an annual plan that gives users full access to 15 Chaos Group products and services for $699/year. Exporting AutoCAD file into RHINO
gnacng posted a topic in AutoCAD Beginners' AreaHello All, I'm a beginner to both AutoCAD and Rhino and am just experimenting at the moment. However, I'm slightly more confident on AutoCAD than Rhino and was wondering if it's possible to complete a design in AutoCAD than transfer it to Rhino without losing any of the evidence of the "construction process" ? Thank you in advance for your help and advice. Kind Regards,
Rhino issue: solid modeling
obscurejack posted a topic in RhinoHello! I'm a noob in rhino and I found some problems by making a polysurface solid: my problem is that I have two elements: a sphere and a twisted pyramid, joined by boolean union which I can't offset to add an internal thicken. when I do it (with "solid" option activated) it just creates a polysurface inside it, without creating an emptiness in it. I can't even make a boolean difference, boolean 2 objects or neither a solid subtraction that work with polysurfaces which surfaces do not intersect each other. Indeed, when I make a section to see how it is inside there's no hole but only the sectioned edges of the offset polysurf. H E L P!!!!
rtreacy23 posted a topic in RhinoI am working in Rhino 4.0. I am doing some work with a lot of curves, and most of them have locked themselves. I have already unlocked all of the layers and typed 'unlock' in the task bar. Any advice on how to unlock these curves would be appreciated.
CAD Standard - AutoCAD and Rhino
Philby posted a topic in CAD ManagementAs this is one of the sites we used for research while preparing our new CAD Standards (particularly with regards to STB/CTB plot style tables), I thought it only fair to share the results here, in case they may be of help to anyone looking to start or update their own CAD Standards. Partly because our company believe in an open culture for documentation such as this, and partly as I know personally how frustrating and time-consuming it can be to trawl the web for examples of existing CAD Standards. We have also included a Project Folder Organisation structure and a project-wide File Naming Convention. Our architectural/engineering company uses a combination of AutoCAD and Rhino for our work, so while this standard was designed primarily for AutoCAD, it was also developed with the aim of improving the compatibility between AutoCAD and Rhino. Please feel free to download the documents in PDF format, and I hope it proves useful to some people. http://complexitys.com/software/re-thinking-cad-standards-why-theres-never-a-good-time-and-never-a-better-time/
