SLW210
OK - that worked. Having never really worked with shape files before I wasn't sure how all the associations worked. When I select the style name (in the Text Style" editor) that created the need for an error dialog box - I can eliminate my problem two ways. I can either uncheck the "Use Big Font" dialog box and eliminate the "Font Style" requirement, or I can check the "Use Big Font" and reassociate the "Font Style" to bigfont.shx. So am I correct then thinking that the "fake" file I could create would be called mpspcbar.shx? Yes

Nikostinko
I had this same issue for some time. When I typed int _Fontalt in the command prompt, I was given the following: Enter new value for FONTALT, or . for none : Giving the impression that fontalt was turned on and anything that I didn't have would automatically resort to "simplex". Well, I typed in simplex and hit enter anyways...low and behold, I have not had the problem since. I think if you're having this issue, you can type _fontalt, enter, simplex, enter and you'll be set. Worked for me ~Niko
