Cad64 Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Welcome to the forum aisu. Cadtutor is a learning facility and there are plenty of members here who would be happy to help you, if you simply tell us what problems you are having. But giving you 3D models will not help you learn. You only learn by doing. So, what are you trying to model and what problems are you having? Quote
ReMark Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Didn't your software come with a folder of "sample" drawings? Quote
aisu Posted October 5, 2009 Author Posted October 5, 2009 i dunno.. thanks for the reply.. i now drawing L shaped staircase.. having problem while drawing the railling.. because it needs to be turned 45°. how to draw it? sorry about my english.. (my english not good) Quote
ReMark Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Don't worry about your English. If we have a problem understanding anything we'll let you know. Where are you located? I'm currently running AutoCAD 2009. If I open Windows Explorer and look under Program Files > AutoCAD 2009 there is indeed a Samples folder. You might want to take a look under your AutoDesk program for a Samples folder as well. Unfortunately I do not use Arch 2010 so I am not familiar with how the program would draw a 3D(?) railing turning at a 45 deg angle. It might be similar to the way one would do it in plain AutoCAD but I hesitate to instruct you a method that might not be correct for the software you are using. I know we have other forum members who use Arch software. One of them will most likely jump in here and offer some assistance. I'll check back from time to time to see what help you are offered. That is the best I can do at the moment. Quote
aisu Posted October 5, 2009 Author Posted October 5, 2009 i from indonesia.. im using arch, but my profile is set to autocad.. so, it doesnt have any arch tools in my display.. i just find it hard to turn the railing.. it has not autosnap and staircase is goin upwards, so it was not a horizontal line.. it very hard.. T_T Quote
ReMark Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Curved or straight railing? The rail profile. We're you going to sweep it or extrude it? Just curious. Have you tried using a 3Dpolyline? Quote
aisu Posted October 5, 2009 Author Posted October 5, 2009 i use press/pull.. was it better to use extrude? i wanted curved. but straight 1 ok too.. which 1 would be easier? Quote
ReMark Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Personally I'd go with Sweep but you use whatever you want. Have you looked at any of the other posts here at CT regarding creating 3D stairs (with rails)? Use the Search feature above. You might find something of use for your situation. Quote
aisu Posted October 5, 2009 Author Posted October 5, 2009 anw, do u have any drawing of staircase? Quote
ReMark Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 I'll have to look. Unfortunately I also have to step away from my computer for an hour or so. Quote

stevsmith Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 At work just now, I will get back to you later on this. Quote
CADMASTER1128 Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Another couple of views. Looks like a stair case I saw on my cruise!! LOL Quote
ReMark Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 One way you can do it is to use a 3Dpolyline and then Sweep the profile of your rail along it. The rail profile will follow the 3Dpoly even if there is a 90 deg turn (not radiused) and at an angle too. Quote
