Wilbri Posted January 27, 2010 Author Posted January 27, 2010 ReMark and H.Adkins tank you for your research. I have had a look at the sites referred to and researched this subject with a couple of local "Cut and Supply" businesses. It would seam that in most instances where nesting applies, that the software programs are commercial and specifically written for the hardware used. In most instances this is only used for mass produced items. What I am looking for is AutoCad based nesting software to enable me to "nest" components to provide the most economical material usage for my clients. This however my not be feasible as the Cad software my not be able to communicate this information to a cutting machine due to the incompatibility of programs. So I am possibly "barking up the wrong tree"so to speak. My work regards multiples of various components profiled from plate material used by fabrication companies for job lots rather than high production. Maybe when I become more adept with Acad operation I could look at compiling an AutoLisp program to suite my needs. In fact right now, there are many more pressing question I would like to pose of the forum. Many thanks once again for your valued input. Quote
H.Adkins Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Did you watch the Demo? I can not believe there is a software or machine out there that can't use a .dxf file. http://www.mynesting.com/flash/mynestingstandalone_overview_800600.html We machine parts and nest everyday. The software we use for our cnc equipment came with nesting; but this MyNest program is a very economical way to nest if you don't need to do it very often. Quote
Wilbri Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 H.Atkins Thank your for your continued interest. Yes I ahe had a second look and the software would definitely suite my purpose, however being a trail download I would prefer to try it when I next obtain a request to do nesting. Will reply when I have tested it Thanks once again Quote
