Wilbri Posted February 13, 2010 Author Posted February 13, 2010 Thanks I will attach the drawing saved as 2007 in due course. Attempting to complete at the moment. Finding many questions that need answering. Quote
ReMark Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 "Finding many questions that need answering." That's great. I charge by the question. LOL Just kidding. Quote
Wilbri Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 ReMark I have have attempted to send the drawing to your private e-mail address. my ISP assures me that the problem is on your side. Could your in box be full or is there possibly some other reason? Attempted sending the message only (without the attachment) but still no response. Quote
ReMark Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 I am in receipt of both. There was a problem initially due to a power interruption at my house that was intentional. I was hooking up some new wiring and killed the power at the main disconnect. I will be looking at your drawing later today (Sunday). Quote
Wilbri Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 Thank you Please do not put yourself under pressure for my sake, I have time? I am coping by defaulting all layer colors to white for the purpose of sending my client a PDF copy. As I am using his PC so send him PDF (A3 size) copies which he receives and prints. Thus the reason for some peculiar scale settings on the drawing. Quote
ReMark Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Wilbri: I completed two test plots of a windowed area of your drawing that included a number of objects and text that are color yellow. Plot #1 - Monochrome.ctb used. Output to Canon PIXMA iP3500 inkjet printer. Result: solid black image with no variation in objects or text despite their layer or color. Plot #2 - DWG to PDF PC3 file used. File created. Open file and print using same printer as in Plot #1. Result: solid black image with no variation in objects or text despite their layer or color. Everything printed solid black; no grey. I can only suspect that your problem may be one related to how the printer is setup and nothing to do with AutoCAD itself or any of the layer or color settings you are using. Quote
Wilbri Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 ReMark I continue to be grateful for your assistance and advice. In reviewing your comments the only one that would seem to apply is repeated below. I can only suspect that your problem may be one related to how the printer is setup and nothing to do with AutoCAD itself or any of the layer or color settings you are using. However, this apparent problem has only recently occurred since this is the first drawing I have produced on 2010. No problems with 2007 and the other software I have mentioned. It possibly has to do with the ACad setup in Plot manager or Plot style manager an area I know nothing about. With my limited knowledge I will attempt to review and resolve it somehow. Thanks for your private message, the contents of which are very encouraging to me. Will hopefully, in time, discard the "old school" practice and become a competent CAD draftsman. I will need some time to allow the information contained in your message to gel and then after some attempt to apply my mind to the correct way of thinking and working with Acad, after which I will reply. ReMark Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 You're right. I failed to consider the ctb file itself. However, we both used the monochrome.ctb so our results should have been the same. If you want to compare the choices used in plot manager you'll either have to provide me with a screen-shot or a list of all parameters and their settings so I can do an adequate comparison. I doubt that you are anything other than a competent draftsman. It was not my intention to imply that and if that is how you read my comments then I apologize for the way they were written. I did CAD the "old school" style for a while until I came to appreciate the use of layouts. I haven't yet made the full leap to annotative scaling as I don't think it holds much in the way of benefits for my company. However, after having seen your drawing I would say it is a feature you may well benefit from. For future consideration contemplate using model space for your objects and a layout for your titleblock and border. There are definite advantages over the way you are working now. I would be happy and willing to assist you in any manner I could. Regards, ReMark Quote
Wilbri Posted February 14, 2010 Author Posted February 14, 2010 ReMark I did not take your draftsman comment other than which it was intended. Although I have been using Acad on and off for many years I did so to communicate information mostly in sketch form to the various workshop and site individuals and not for serious drawings. Therefore I consider myself a beginner and will happly accept any comment and information without prejudice. thus my concern for our friend mentioned in my e-mail. I would like to review the very informative Acad search facility to obtian some information with regard to plot set-up and if I fail to resolve the issue will revert to you. Hopefully this will free up some of your valuable time to assist in resolving the problems of other needy forum members. No offense meant, I am just concerned with hogging your time. One question? How do I go about generating a screen-shot? I would like to get to the layout issue as soon as I have resolved the present problem. Quote
ReMark Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 How to take a screen shot using Windows XP. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/tips/screenshot.mspx Like many other active forum members I give of my time freely and without reservation. You are not hogging my time. OK? Quote
Wilbri Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 Many thanks Remark I will review to the hyperlink you have provided and hopefully be able to send you a screenshot in due course. I have once again received a no reply message from my ISP regarding your recent e-mail message I replied to today! Quote
ReMark Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Wilbri: To date all I have received are two emails from you and they were both dated 2/13/10. Quote
