I already explained this. See my first post in this thread.

ADD: Select objects. Great! That's the easiest!

Thank you. Now you made at least two people happy today.

I had never considered that the background mask might exist. They hide it on that little tiny arrow to the right of the text editor dialog, and in the Help file.

You can also right click inside the Mtext editor and it comes up with a context menu that has Background Mask as an option there as well.

It can also be accessed through Properties (with existing Mtext).

I find this to be useful, but I'd like to not use a color background on the mask in the MTEXT tool under options. Another words, I just want to have a blank area around the text. I tried picking white, but it prints out black. How can I do this?

Thanks in advance

The check box next to the text background 'color' option allows you to pick 'Background Color'. try that. It matches model or paper space background automaticly and plots to match paperspace background.

I got it. Now I can do it both ways. Thanks again Dana.

Cool. Just be careful what's under the text that you DO want to show through.

While I was experimenting with my newfound toy (see many above posts with laughy faces:lol:) I covered up some stuff on my survey drawing that was right next to the text, but I didn't realise was under the text box.
