ReMark
What visual style are you using when working with the file? Example: 2D wireframe versus conceptual. Is the computer networked or standalone?
ReMark
We had the experience of working with two rather large drawing files two years ago. We combined our 14.8MB steel framing drawing with a subcontractor's 38.7MB fabrication drawing of a distillation and fractionation column. We tried pushing that 53.5MB drawing around on my system and it was like trying to pull a dead ox through molasses on a below freezing February morning. Moving the drawing to a different CAD computer (just as fast, chip-wise) but with a way better graphics card (more & faster vidRAM) and faster system RAM made all the difference. We were using AutoCAD 2006 running under WinXP Pro at the time.
