irneb Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Go to http://www.cadalyst.com and search AutoCAD 2009 Bug. I never used 2009, but word is it is the buggiest AutoCAD.You must mean the buggiest this side of R13 right! Anyhoo, I seem to see this happening each time some update occurs. It's as if ACad every now and again rechecks the file-type settings in the registry and re-introduce that AutoLancher. It's doesn't happen that often, varies between a couple of weeks and several months - so it's probably due to updates / service packs. Anyhow, the way I get round it is after fixing the regristry (manually) I've simply exported that registry folder to a REG file. Then if the bug occurs again I double click the REG file to reinstate the fix - not perfect but saves a small amount of hair-pulling. I just wish ADesk would wake up and fix the AutoLauncher already! As far as I'm concerned it should do the following: Each time the AutoCAD window is activated (note ADesk, not started / closed as is now) that version of ACad should be used to open any double clicked DWGs. That way even if the user has 2 (or more) different versions of CAD running he can easily select which one he'd prefer to open drawings from explorer by simply activating that window first. It would also ensure that the last ACad he was using would be the one to open the drawing. If the DWG is double clicked check which version DWG file it is. If it's say a 2010 version file, but 2009 was last the active AC used then use the one which can actually open the damned thing! No use having 2009 pop open only to tell you it can't open the file! Correct on the R13, actually I thought I typed that in there. Put all that in the WISHLIST. I only have one active version here at work, so I do not have any issues. But, when I get set up at home I hope to be running more than one. I would at least like to see some ability to choose which AutoCAD to use for opening a file, when more that one is installed. I remember when I had 3 AutoCAD versions and Inventor on one machine..... Quote
AQucsaiJr Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 Well we are trying to get the whole office on one version. I guess until then I'll have to continue to drag and drop to open... I have been doing this for so long now I don't know if I can go back to the double click . Quote
