Eagle Point

Would that happen to be their LANDCADD for AutoCAD by any chance? If so, what version?

If not, which Eagle Point product/version?

Thanks.

Sorry, you've caught me on my home renovation day so I only check in sporadically. Eagle Point. OK. That's sounds vaguely familiar. I need to do some research. Bear with me.

Thats alright, typically I dont have access to the internet on Saturdays.

It is not LandCADD, it is their Eagle Point Desktop Software for Land Development Version 2010 Q1 10.1.0

I went looking for some information re: desktop software for Land Development on the Eagle Point website but could only find Desktop Survey, Civil Design and Hydraulics & Hydrology. Why would that be?

From what I've read, even at the Microsoft website, their Win7 64-bit OS will run most 32-bit software with the following exceptions: antivirus, firewall, Photoshop and Adobe.

We are both running Win7 Ultimate 64-bit. Look on your hard drive for a folder named WoW64. Got one?

When you tried to install Land Development 2010 did you run into any problems during the installation itself that may have generated an error message? Or did you get it installed (supposedly) but were unable to actually run it? If so, did you get any error messages?

I think it is because they are modules, that and they have discontinued the program, check out this page. The problem with installing 32 bit Eagle Point is that the arx and dll files will not run inside of 64bit AutoCAD. Similar to if you have an arx file that was designed for AutoCAD 2009 not running in 2010 because of the format change. I wouldnt be opposed to installing the 32bit AutoCAD on my 64 bit OS so that I could install 32 bit Eagle Point for 32 bit AutoCAD, its just that when I tried the normal workarounds for 2010 my vlax functions no longer worked, so none of my customization would function. I just assumed I would have the same issue with 2011, so I didnt bother spending the couple of hours to modify files and install to find out.

perhaps we should have this posted elsewhere or split off from this thread as it is kind of getting off track from the original post.

Any resolution to your problem? I ask because I literally stumbled across a similar problem of a user trying to load AutoCAD Architecture 2008 on a 64-bit computer and was having the same negative results. This proposed solution involved downloading a utility program from Microsoft called ORCA. It also invloved edits to an .INI and a .MSI file.

sorry, no luck with 2010 and above, the workaround worked great for 08 and 09. This proposed solution is the one that I used to be able to install 32bit 09 on my Win 7 64bit machine. I was hoping someone had found a workaround for the newer versions (10 and 11), and that that workaround would work for 2012 when it eventually comes out. I figure that when 13 is finally released, we'll finally have to switch software, as EP is no longer being updated, and will need to be recompiled for any drawing format changes that typically occur every 3 releases.

Sorry to hear that. Well I didn't want you to think I forgot about your problem. Will keep it in the back of my mind as I cycle through time. I know we solved your problem in the future but that doesn't help you now with your "ancient" technologies. LOL Just kidding.
