I think it looks great. Regarding compulsory or optional I would lean towards optional as well. I've now updated my own to reflect my specific designing trade and skill. *EDIT* After thinking about it some more, this is such a great idea because the details given can allow people to connect with others about really specific topics. Just stating once again how beneficial this new Profile feature is in my opinion. This should be an announcement, to inform everyone globally about this new feature. LOL @ David: As Mark said he does several disciplines and that's true for me too, would it be possible to have multiple entries rather than being restricted to one or just entering "other", which sometimes can be more misleading than helpful? I think the original concept is correct, that there is just a single primary discipline and more detail can be given in the details section. However, I understand where you're coming from and the "Other" option may not be applicable for those who are multi-disciplinary rather than are in a discipline that doesn't appear on the list. So, how about we have an additional option that says "Multi-disciplinary", which requires that the member also add some detail before it will appear in the postbit. So it acts just like "Other" but rather than saying "See details..." in the postbit, it says "Multi-disciplinary". Does that seem sensible? They may graduate with a Civil Engineering degree (in AUS) but many will never practice anything other than structural (building) design. Out here Civil is primarily road, sewer, stormwater et al excluding structures! 'Building" - many a CAD user are drawing things from pools to fences to cabinets that really are outside of pure Architecture. 'Manufacture' - my company manufactures precast panels and structural steelwork, for many disciplines - Civil, Architecture, Mech, Electrical etc. No pigeon hole! 'Detailer' - I think this generic one suits a lot of small office that will draw anything that pays. Also the subbies that may be purely shop detailing items. Also the subbies that may be purely shop detailing items. "Detailer" isn't a discipline, it's an occupation and there is a separate field specifically for occupation. However, it raises another issue, which is whether we should add the "occupation" field to the pop-up. I've also added "Multi-disciplinary" to the list but have not made this conditional upon added detail. Whereas "Other" could mean anything and requires additional detail, "Multi-disciplinary" does actually have a meaning and so it is up to the member to add detail if they want to.
