nestly Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 That almost sounds like it's trying to insert and existing block. Can you take a couple of FLATSHOTS, one with obscure lines on, and one with them off, and repost the drawing. Quote
ReMark Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 You need to be in a FRONT view if you are going to be creating a "front" view of your 3D model. Same goes for any other view. You cannot be in an isometric view while trying to create one of the other views. I just switched from creating a view with hidden detail to one that doesn't and had no problem. Quote

ReMark Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I wonder if he has more than one 3D object in model space? Quote
iainlines Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 Nestly and Mark.....I was indeed in front view, I am not trying to create views in Isometric. Honestly folks, although it may not seem it I do understand the premise of this command. I do also understand and appreciate that you are taking time out of your day to help. Which ever view I start in I get what I expect, I then change to another, say from front to top then get something I don't expect Sorry folks! Quote
ReMark Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Maybe this will help. It's saved in 2007 file format. HeatShield.dwg Quote
iainlines Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 Mark, I think (and I know it sounds daft) that I may have a problem with my AutoCad. Opened your drawing then:- VIEW. TOP. FLATSHOT= ALL GOOD VIEW. TOP. FLATSHOT. GOT ISOMETRIC. I know I'm being a pain, could you repeat that and see what happens your end? Are there any UCS system variables that could be affecting this? What I see in your screencap does not match what I would expect to see. Not that it should matter, but type UCS > World then PLAN > World and then give it a try. Also, maybe close and restart AutoCAD if you haven't done so already. Quote
Dadgad Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 How are you accessing your different perspectives? Quote
iainlines Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 Nestly, still exactly the same results, sorry. Methinks I have a glitch. This is quite saddening news as it is such a useful command :-( Quote
nestly Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Is this regular AutoCAD2007? Are there any add-on programs? Dynamic UCS Off? Quote
iainlines Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 Nestly, tried with both on and off. Hasn't made any difference Quote
ReMark Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) Sorry, but I don't agree with the system variable theory. The layout is a flat 2D drawing while the model space was left in a SE isometric view on purpose. Edited July 16, 2012 by ReMark Quote
Dadgad Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 How are you switching from one perspective to another? Quote
nestly Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I never used AutoCAD2007, but that appears to be the year FLATSHOT was introduced, and according to this article, FLATSHOT also used to capture 2D geometry (I'm skeptical whether Ellen is correct about this) Try following this tutorial and see if it makes any difference if you turn off existing 2D objects before running FLATSHOT a second time. http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/acadblog/tutorial-convert-a-3d-solid-to-a-3-view-2d-drawing-in-model-space/ Quote
iainlines Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 Dadgad-with the view toolbar Mark, I didn't say it was a system variable, I merely suggested it as I am out of ideas. Again, I am not trying to create 2D images from the SE Iso. If you can tell me what my error is I will happily hold my hands up. A couple more screenshots attached, hope it helps Once again, appreciate the help all Quote
ReMark Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I've been able to reproduce your problem using 2007. Got an ISO view when I expected a FRONT view. Used my drawing too. Interesting. Quote
iainlines Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 Nestly, there are no 2D objects in the model. There were but I got rid of those a while ago. Quick edit to the above. I am trying to create one image from SE ISDO, but only the SE ISO! I am not trying to create other views from it Quote
iainlines Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 It's quite the conundrum eh Mark? I have a few other choice wordws for it but don't want to get kicked off by the mods ;-) Quote
