f700es Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I've never walked out of an interview although right after one particular one I ran to my car laughing all the way! Well I just didn't get up and leave. I stopped them, told them we were just too fat apart, thanked them and left. I did tell them good look finding someone with all the skills and experience they wanted for what they were offering to pay. Quote
white lightning Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Hi Has anyone had to take examples of their cad work to a job interview before? I've got an interview in a few days and been asked to bring in some sample drawings. How would you present them? I haven't got that many because most of my work has been in clients office and on their servers. Never really thought to collect my work to use in this way throughout the years. Cheers Quote
f700es Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Yeah I always keep samples of my work that I thought was worth showing. Take what you have, better than nothing. Quote
ReMark Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Yes, I've brought samples of work with me usually 11x17's as they are easier to handle. Quote

Cheers I didn't think anyone asked to see them any more since it is so easy for others to claim work as their own. If you do take samples remove any references to client's names, etc. And tell them that your prior jobs specified that you not take copies of the work and you honored that request and that you would do the same for them. SAFeSTeR Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I don't see a problem with being asked to do a CAD test during an interview, I've done it before and had to draw a drawing border / frame / title block, but they gave me a paper version to 'copy'. I've also been asked to bring in examples of work, so I just produced some pdf's of work I *cough* borrowed *cough* from a previous company. This work of course had my name, the companies name, dates so was checkable against my CV to make sure it was my own work. Quote
