Hi Mark.

Bee at home for a few days but am back onto it now. Will try your suggestion with zoom extents. I still cannot understand why it does not do what the book says. I will now set up a new drawing and attempt to draw the base plate and column. Will let you know how it goes.

Cheers

We'll be here waiting. Good luck and don't forget about the tutorials previously mentioned.

Still same problems, why write a book that does not correspond to the program. Am I wasting my time with autocad for dummies or what. Tried going 70,60 did not get same results as you posted or the 2 other rectangles. Maybe at 50 I should leave this to the young pups. Have looked at the tutorials and will give them a go.

Cheers

Would it help if I posted a sample drawing file?

Hold on a minute. I'll be back.

OK here you go. Three different size boxes on three different layers. Two of the boxes are based on coordinates you previously posted. Practice panning and zooming in/around the drawing.

Drawing saved in 2010 file format.

Reading back carefully I get the impression that either your screen isn't representing a square correctly, or somehow your coordinate entry system is working with absolute coordinates, check that DYNPICOORDS = 0 and not 1.

checked DYNPICOORDS settings. Set to 0. Any other thoughts

Can you post us a screen shot of the images you are getting (or not getting) and a copy of the command history might help (F2), those should show us what is going on at your end.

saab: How's your drawing exercise coming along? Did you ever return and download the boxtest.dwg file I attached to post #27?
