shift1313 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 since you are dealing with circles. is it possible for you to draw a cross section of what you want and revolve it? Quote
ReMark Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 So are you guys saying I'm not going to be able to loft those? What am I missing here? There is a vertical separation distance of one sixteenth of an inch between the fives circles. How do you expect to loft them? Quote
JD Mather Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 What am I missing here? There is a vertical separation distance of one sixteenth of an inch between the fives circles. How do you expect to loft them? I don't think you are missing anything. It appears to me that the OP tried to make up a quick example that looked good from the generated angle without realizing the geometry did not represent a real world scenario. Quote
JD Mather Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Yeah it has to be that small. I don't believe that. I suspect either your distance or the orientation of the loft section profiles isn't what you really intend. If that would loft it would result in something like a squashed wire. Is that what you are modeling? A mangled, flattened wire? Quote
ReMark Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 I like that mangled, flattened wire analogy. Almost like stepping on a Slinky? When the OP said: "What I'm trying to do is make what sort of looks like the aftermath of a mole digging inside of the cylinder." I got the impression this "cylinder" would be much taller. Boy, that has to be the world's flattest mole. Quote
shift1313 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Menolik. everything autocad or any cad program is doing is math based. If you had two profiles and it had to fit a curve between them it could probably do it, but with 5 curves in such a small distance there just isnt going to be an equation that can really represent that. Can you show us what you are trying to do or accomplish? I am sure there will be a way to model what you want, but it doesnt look like this is it. Quote

I am sure there will be a way to model what you want, but it doesnt look like this is it. I think it is doable - but my money is betting the circles aren't really aligned as intended. I suspect a spline path with each circle perpendicular to the path at the five center nodes is the design intent. But without further information and knowing which circles are number 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 on the path it is impossible to solve. Quote
JD Mather Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 here are the circles I need to loft. Something like this? circle2bloft_jd.zip Quote
