3d surface cross section lisp ?

hello ,,

 

i just need small help here .

 

i know its my first time to be active since long time but if please help its very urgent .

 

i have 3d surface mad by surveyor . i need to generate cross sections every 2.5 meters ! .

 

i can do it by using the commands ( point with apparent intersection and then connect with 3d poly line then loft command .. but it will take me more that 2-3 days to finish and there are more coming ! :(

 

all i need is lisp or any thing can help me to finish this issue . i read it can be done on civil 3d but i have zero background about this software .

 

its urgent and must be done within 2 days =\

thank you for replay , but it doesn't help ,

 

all i need is not to keep clicking point command and apparent intersection every time then connect with 3d poly line .. i need ready lisp can take the job of doing the intersection direct .

Hi Romiui

I've made something similar for 3DFaces.

Can you convert this to Lisp:

- get start p1=(x1 y1 z1) and end p2=(x2 y2 z2) of each segment from each 3dPoly

- for a given y0 position of the cutting line, if y0 is between y1 and y2, you can get the apparent intersection point p0=(x0 y0 z0) like this:

x0 = [x1*(y0-y2)+x2*(y1-y0)]/(y1-y2)
p0 = (x0 y0)
z0 = [z2*(dist p1 p0)+z1*(dist p0 p2)]/[(dist p1 p0)+(dist p0 p2)]
p0 = (x0 y0 z0)

- put each such p0 point in a list, sort it ascending by x and build the section as a 3dpoly.

if u can please help me to convert this drawing to solid then i can slice it ? I've done 50% of the 3dpoly and this cross sections should go to the meeting evening .. i'am really stuck ! ..

i hope i have this civil 3d experience to do ..

i know its looks Too Much . but if will take u time . all i need is solid surface so i can slice it with slice tool and i can do the job .

Romiui I think you missed the point of my post, there is free software out there that will do contours, cross sections and Long sections. A quick google should have found them.

 

eg EZYSURF

A quick comment you have plines not 3dfaces, they are joined to look like a TIN, Triangular Irregular Network or DTM Digital Terrain Model. As posted it would take about 2-3 minutes to make cross sections from your data using CIV3D or one of the free packages.

 

I dont know which Tool you refer to but you make an alignment then walk down that alignment making cross sections at generally a fixed spacing. So draw a line from mid of horizontal lines top to bottom, this is your alignment, you may have to explode the plines, in CIV3D 3dlines are a valid input option not plines.

thanks for reply ! i used the cadtools application and still confusing for me . and for the civil 3d i dont have the software and i never use it before .

 

any way i'll attach u my other 3d surface or what ever called poly . any if u please make the cross section for me i'll appreciate that .

 

its really hard to me to make it and am stuck with other 3d surfaces now almost finish 80% so this one left which attached in this reply .
