Something like this, it uses a bit of trickery in the viewport shape (MVIEW might be usefull to look at) see if it is of any use.

attached is the dwg as well if it helps.

I did tried this solution but it will not hide all the sewage, and telephone lines? Need to be the lines behind the box --Concrete with ducts must be hidden.

lulumara - once you have two separate viewports in paperspace you can freeze any layers you want in one of the viewports while they still show in the other. you can use the layfrz command and pick on an object and its layer will be frozen in the current viewport (the one you are working through).

Make sure you have the correct options for the LAYFRZ command. Start the command, note the command line, one option is Settings, type S then enter, then Vpfreeze, then pick on the objects.

If you want to use the layer manager make sure you move over to the right to find the VP Freeze column. To identify a layer you can first use the XLIST command, pick on an object, now you know the layer to VP freeze.

If you have the toolbar on showing the freeze option when in a viewport it is the same as VPFREEZE a bit easier than command line stuff.

Are they long those thingies that used to have the ribbon buttons in them? They look annoying. All of those tools right there in your face. Too much distraction for me.
