Hi, I need to change colors on a dwg file and to see them changed on Navis. Let me explain : - I'm gonna receive .dwg every weeks, same name but updated (ex : 1.dwg, 2.dwg, 3.dwg) - I'm planning to xref all the .dwg on the same drawing to change the colors I need (with Visretain : 1, I'm gonna keep the modified color) (Xref.dwg) My problem is when I append Xref.dwg, it takes the colors from the originals files (1.dwg, 2.dwg, 3.dwg). Does any of you know how to do it? Thank you Ildan

Hey guys, I am a structural steel detailer and lately we have been doing a few jobs using engineer's design models rather than design drawings. It is often pretty hard to get the design modeller's to document the changes they are making to their design models, and I have just come across this tool which allows users to compare old and new models using Navisworks Simulate. http://revitit.com/blog/?p=297 Comes in pretty handy.

Hey guys, This isnt so much an AutoCAD question, but more of a general drafting/modeling question. Just wondering what everyone thinks is the best way to check for clashes in 3D CAD models? At the moment we just import our DWGs into Navisworks and use the Clash Detective - which is fine if a single user/modeler is going to be running the clash test and remodeling on the spot. Navisworks is a little less awesome when it comes to compiling clash reports to be read by modeler who will not be using Navisworks, and only reading the clash report. Just looking for more ideas really. Cheers.

Hello All! I am wondering anyone can recommend some good Navisworks Tutorials? I don't have anything specific in mind but at my company we use it a lot but I get the sense there is additional features that we could be utilizing. I just want to increase my knowledge. Thanks All, John I find that a great part of the information I have, was acquired by looking up something and finding something else on the way. -Franklin Pierce Adams Be curious always! For knowledge will not acquire you: you must acquire it. -Sudie Back

I am currently modelling in two packages, a piping package called PDS which is an Intergraph package. i import these files into Navisworks via an nwc file, no poblem there. it interact correctly with this model. form this i can read the pipe sizes specs etc. in otherowrds it is not a dumb model. When i import the Revit model via the same method. and when i run a clash report beetween the tw, the revit model will trow up two clashes per actual clash. in other words when say a pipe penetrates a wall (a hard clash) it should only really detect it as a single clash (pipe v wall). However, it detects the front face of the wall and the back face of the wall?! Has this happend to anyone out there, and if so have you solved the issue or is it a software glich? Any input on this would be greatlly appreciated Regards Diarmuid

Navisworks to display materials as asigned(attached) in AutoCAD?
Koki posted a topic in Autodesk Software General
Hi There, I did asigned(attach) materials to layers in AutoCAD and display is oK within Autocad, but when I open the drawing in Navisworks Simulate, the and I switch to "realistic" the presentation of the object is mosly black. When I check the materials, there are only one the "global" I suppose I have to go one by one and asign materials in Navisworks. Is there any way to show the materials as per Autocad or I have to skip the step of attaching materials in Autocad and do it in Navisworks? Regards Nick
