Brands Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Hello everybody, I'm in a bit of a snag. We have a wordker to manny, or a licence to short. I can't confince my superior to giving a full AutoCAD license (due to the cost of it), he wants to go for the light version of Cad. Now is my question: What are the missing componants in AutoCAD 2010 LT in adition to the full license? I need solid points to eigther forse the boss in to a big spend or to confince one of my workers to willingly switch to the LT. Thanks in advance! Quote
ReMark Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Here is a link to a comparison matrix of the two pieces of software. http://images.autodesk.com/adsk/files/acad10_acadlt10_compmatrix.pdf What do you mean by "I need solid points"? Quote
Brands Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 I meant solid arguments, sorry. tnx for the link! Quote
Brands Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 Could you tell me, is the otrack function available in the new light version? Or is it still left out? Quote
ReMark Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Now I'm even more confused. Solid arguments? You got me there. Otrack? Are you refering to Object Snap Tracking? Quote
ReMark Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Osnap Tracking (a.k.a. - Object Snap Tracking) is not available in AutoCAD LT 2010. Quote
ReMark Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 There is only one type of solid in AutoCAD LT and it is a 2D fill-like feature and not what one thinks of when using the full version of AutoCAD and creating true 3D solids. Quote
Brands Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 They still don't let otrack in the LT, smart but it sucks. Thank you, I know enough. Thank you for you help! Quote

MFish Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Now I'm even more confused. Solid arguments? You got me there. Otrack? Are you refering to Object Snap Tracking? I believe by "solid arguments" he meant to say "a reason to tell his boss whether or not it was a good idea to purchase LT" Quote
tzframpton Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 LT might suffice. It does for a few guys here in the office where I work. They would benefit from having Full, but honestly it doesn't hinder them THAT much for the simple tasks they do. LT's not bad, for your basic CAD needs. Quote
Brands Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 Thank you guys! I´ve worked with 2004 LT last year for just under a year. After working with a full version for 4 years it realy feels like your working with your against against a ceiling. You can realy feel the limit. I was hoping 2010 worked that out of the LT versions. Thank u for all your info guys, I know what I´ll have to do! Quote
Brands Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 ...one more thing, how do I close this thread? Quote
Strix Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 you don't  this forum doesn't work that way - our threads stay open for future reference, and for other people to add more info to - so other users can benefit if they have the same question Quote
Dipali Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Osnap Tracking (a.k.a. - Object Snap Tracking) is not available in AutoCAD LT 2010. I have got it in Autocad LT 2008:o Quote
ReMark Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Got the info from a review of an AutoCAD 2010 and AutoCAD LT 2010 book review. The feature was listed as being in full AutoCAD only. I'll have to recheck that. Thanks Dipali. I stand corrected. Quote
ReMark Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Well that is interesting. I checked my online source which was a reference to George Omura's Mastering AutoCAD 2010 and AutoCAD LT 2010, specifically page 103, where the ACAD only designation appears next to the section that talks about Object Snap Tracking. Maybe Dipali has caught a typo. Could the knowledgeable G.O. have made a mistake? Quote

Brands Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 They all have the otrack function? you are sure it is Otrack and not Osnap? Quote
