Adding fonts to Draftsight
D_Krause posted a topic in Design SoftwareSo! This little trick with Draftsight took me about 3 hours to figure out. How to add Fonts to Draftsight. Draftsight looks in your windows installed fonts to find any fonts it will consider vaild for use. In order to have a font available for use by draftsight, the font must be in TTF Format and must be installed into your windows system fonts folder. If you have a .otf file, you should use a tool like http://everythingfonts.com/otf-to-ttf to convert the file into .ttf file format. At that point, just open the file and hit "Install" in the top left. Windows will then install the font into it's system and draftsight will consider it valid. Why a system like draftsight, which bills itself as an open platform, cannot use .otf is beyond me. But this is the work around: Convert to .ttf Install into windows system the "normal" way Profit.
Draftsight lisp routines and variables
EricDevault posted a topic in AutoLISP, Visual LISP & DCLDoes anyone have any information on DraftSight and the use of lisps and setting variables, these are two separate questions. I currently can load a lisp and run them as I do in AutoCad but there are limitations/variations to certain things. Does anyone have a comparison or know the differences with the two programs? My next question is about setting variables in DraftSight, Command Line: (setq no1 10) returns 10, but when I invoke !no1 it returns Error: No Function. as if the value got wiped immediately after being set. Is there a System Variable I need to set to hold these variables or is it just not possible in DraftSight? Any information is much appreciated.
The AutoCAD 1 minute challenge!
nathanjh13 posted a topic in AutoCAD Beginners' AreaI set students a one minute challenge to draw the component shown (pause the video and try it yourself BEFORE I reveal how it's done). Great practice to get your drafting skills up to speed! Good luck
DraftSight crashes when I click on the screen
Lutherman posted a topic in Design SoftwareI just installed this free software, which works a lot like AutoCad, with a command line so I don't have to fish for icons and sort through menus. I like it a lot. But it crashes consistently when I click on the screen. For example, if I try to select a zoom window, or if I click on the screen for no reason. I found that it does not crash if I am working in the linear dimensioning command, when I click on the screen. I have Vista, which is going to change soon. I wonder if that's the real problem. People don't seem to have too many complaints about this program.
Line will not angle in DraftSight?
Shiro posted a topic in AutoCAD Beginners' AreaI hope I'm posting this in the right section. I'm using DraftSight as a replacement for AutoCAD LT97. I have a habit of using the polar method of directing lines, and I got stuck when it wouldn't let me make a 3/8" line at 90 degrees. It works if I attempt it at 30 degrees, but does nothing at 90. EDIT: Disregard that, now it won't let me do 30 at all. How would I fix this? I know I could go @0,3/8, but it's a habit to go @3/8
