  1. Hello, If you are looking at plan view, I have a bunch of points surveyed for blastholes: x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x These points all vary in height. I have a surface created under hole collars representing the chemical contact between two different rock units. I'm trying to project a line from the collar of the blast hole, vertically down, to intersect with the surface and determine that length so I can inform the drillers what depth the holes need to be drilled to. Currently, here's my workflow to get the required depths: Survey the blast hole locations prior to drilling. Come back to the office, import my points from the survey to CAD. Determine the extents of the blast. Extend the existing geologic model to determine the hypothetical depths. The drillers then drill sample holes to determine the depth of the surface and the surface is updated within two days. I then need to go back out to the blast holes and use my survey equipment to stakeout the DTM. I then go back around to the holes and record on scratch paper the depths to the DTM. I then come back to the office and annotate the drawing with the required depths. I then finally plot the drill instructions for the blasthole drills. I appreciate any and all help!!
  2. Hi Guys, wondering if you've ever had this issue and have figured out what/why my CAD keeps crashing, and if there are any work arounds/fixes for it.. I have a few different surfaces I've created from lidar and survey data, and they keep crashing my AutoCAD especially when I'm switching between layout tabs, but really doing just about any command haphazardly... I know it's the surface because I can set it to no-display or just turn off the layers and i'm smooth sailing, but with it on i usually crash within 10 minutes. I have a pretty killer computer and it's not that incredibly large a surface, so I'm wondering if it couldn't be something else that's bogging it down...I've tried a few different things but nothing seems to help. getting a littttttttle annoyed, and I've done everything else on the drawing but can't seem to finish because this guy keeps crashing. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Running: Civil 3D 2012
  3. Hi everyone!!! I have a problem a I using a geotechnical design program (Plaxis) which asks me a surface which can be created from civil 3D, I have been doing it, but the same program suggest that an easier and best method would be to create first the surface from civil 3D and then export it to a *.3ds format. How can I do it? hope can help me.

    Civil 3d Right click

Hi, Im using civil 3d 2013 and have a small issue but it really annoys me. I cannot right click an object to bring up properties or other civil menus like editing alignments etc. i can only do so from menu at the top of the screen. I have checked right mouse button options but no good. My next step is to reinstall it but is there something else I could try?> Thanks
  5. I've been learning this program and believe it's the best program to use for modeling future underground utilities on the project I'm on. I've been able to create new pipe sizes and materials and have been able to set inverts and rim elevations, but I realized that it's not modeling the diameter of the pipes correctly. I'm in the proper units and my lengths dimesion properly, but say if I select a 48" HDPE pipe to be drawn, when it's modeled I can measure the diameter and it says 4.25". So, it's converting almost every 12" to 1". A 4" iron pipe models as 3/8" diameter. I've played with multiple new files and units, but can't seem to get it to model at the true diameter. Even if I scale the drawing it does not scale the diameter, only length. Is there something simple I'm missing? Thanks for any help.
  6. Dear Cadtutor members I am Nelly, new member of this forum and a very beginner autoCAD Civil 3D (2012 version) user. I am Indonesian who's now living in South Korea to pursue my degree. I got scholarship from a Korean's professor, so i'm doing this because of it I need help about autolisp. I am new in this area, so i just googling it and found some reference on autolisp programming, but yet still don't understand about how to program with it and anything at all I hope there's someone who can teach me in this area, because it's very important for my research study. Thank you in advance Yours truly, Nelly
  7. Hello all, How can I create a smooth transition between subassemblies with different daylight slopes? I have a corridor with 2 subassemblies used. I set the regions up so type 1 is from Sta. 0+0 to 0+100, type 2 from 0+100 to 0+125, and then from 0+125 to end is type 1 again. The daylight slope for type 1 is 1.5:1 and it is 100:1 for type 2. Thanks in advance, Kyle
  8. I am having problems creating my pipe network in Civil 3d 2011. A previous employee created a pretty comprehensive list of pipes / structures and I thought I was doing the right thing by dragging and dropping from one of his drawings into my drawing. However I can see the list (in the prospector) in the new drawing but can't do anything with it. I can't edit it or add to it. I get the following error: Unable to edit network part. Required pipe network catalog(s) not set: Metric Pipe Catalog. I know the parts list was created in a previous version of civil (prob 2009) so I am not sure if that is the problem or if I am missing a step. I set the network catelog but that doesn't seem to have made any difference. I can even see the cad drawings within the catalog (C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\C3D 2011\enu\Pipes Catalog) Am I correct in thinking it should be as simple as copying the parts list from another drawing or is there more to it than that? I would really appreciate anyone's help on this. Unfortunately I am the only one in the office using this program and everything I know so far is from a tutorial. Thanks for your help in advance. Sooz

  10. Hello to the forum I need your help with choosing right components to my new PC. I've already done some research. Below is what I gather so far. I will use it for Civil 3D and 3D Max for later visualisation of the project made in Civil. Budget is around 1500 Euro. CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k Motherboard: Asus P67 Sabertooth Graphic Card: GeForce GTX 580 Asus 1536MB RAM: PATRIOT GAMER 2 16GB 2x8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9 HDD: Intel 2.5'' SSD/520 MLC 60 GB (SATA 3) WD CAVIAR 1000GB (WD10EARX) 1TB 64MB 7200obr SATA3 POWER: CORSAIR AX 850W - would be enough? BODY: Cant decide which one would be the best for cooling and easy to install all hardware inside without extra tools. CoolerMaster Dominator II CM 692 SilentiumPC Regnum L50 Corsair Obsidian Series 650D Corsair 600T White Edition OS: Windows 7 PROFESSIONAL BOX UPS: Any advices? I will buy it later so its not in the budged.
  11. I have a project that all our information has been put into MStation. The .tin, .prj, etc and need to create a Triangled Surface in Civil 3D. The main problem is not finding the .tin in Civil but its also asking me for a .pnt file. Is there a way around this or a simpler way to create a DEM model in Cilvil 3D? Thanks in Advance. I am working with V8i and Civil 3D 2011 - Bob
  12. I'm working on a road project that is 3 lane road. a northbound, southbound and center turn lane. At an intersection it changes into having a left turn lane only with a median. So my problem is that when I have multiple regions in my corridor with and offset assembly targeting a offset alignment the last (or first depending ion which side the offset is on) set of links between the sample lines on the offset side of the assembly go missing. I've built the assemblies multiple ways and built it using different baselines and the same problem keeps coming up....I'm lost on it. Any ideas?
  13. Hi All, I am currently working in a profile where the end point is very close to a grid line and the two labels are overlapping. I would like to remove the end point label on the grid altogether. Is there a way of doing this? Would I need to do this on the alignment first? Thanks Sooz
  14. I have a drawing made up of a number of geo-referenced aerial images and i am trying to Xref this into another drawing. The images and drawing appear in the External Reference Dialog box but no images appear on in the drawing. All I seem to get are a couple of green lines. Am I missing something major and this is not possible or is there a setting I am missing to allow the images to appear. I would be grateful of any advice. Thanks in Advance. Sooz
  15. Does civil 3d 2011 have the capacity to model a pipe network that consists of flexible pipe such as HDPE? I am doing a plan for a force main sewer system that uses 2",3" and 4" HDPE pipe and the only way I have been able to represent it in my profile view is by using straight pipe segments. I want to show a vertical curved pipe as it would be installed in the field. What am I missing here?
  16. I'm using Civil 3D for the first time at a new job. We have a deadline this week so I'm super grateful for any (urgent) help you can provide me. I went through all the wizard steps to create my viewport sheet template, then the view frames in my drawing, then the sheets from my drawing. My questions/issues: First, when I produce the sheets, the drawings show up with north to the right, but I want north to be to the left, just as it is in my model space. North is normally up, but we are printing a very long site in landscape layout (not profile) and have set North-South to run Left-Right. Second, when I print to pdf, only my alignment shows up. Nothing else prints. Just a single line on the page, nothing else. Third, how do I edit a View Frame Group? It seems I need to make an entirely new group every time I make a new viewport template. But I just want to keep the View Frame Group I have and edit the template it uses. Fourth, out of curiosity, what is the (CP) for after [Next Counter]? Thanks so much in advance, Forum community!
