  1. Hi all, I've made a simple dynamic block, a rectangle with a hatch and added a linear stretch to it. The stretch works fine on the rectangle itself, but the hatch only gets moved. Any ideas why this might be? I've attached an image and a drawing containing the block. Thanks in advance. BlockHatch.dwg
  2. Hey folks! After an exhaustive search on the forums the closest thread similar to mine was this one, and it was never resolved So here's my question in Video Form... I find at least once every project I need to do something like this (skewing/forshortening). If I make a section view of a set design (cutting right through the stage), I'll do that by taking my set elevations and skewing them. SOLUTION FOUND EDDIT: Holy Balls, YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING. Behold: The solution, painstakingly outlined in VIDEO FORMAT, and annotated..?! Thank you all for sticking with me on this one. You make this community so welcoming and inviting.
  3. I'm trying to add some attributes to an existing block using the block editor, but after I save and close it I cannot see any 'placeholders' despite adding a default value and the attributes work fine when I double click the block. I've tried using the ATTSYNC and BATTMAN commands but nothing helps and there are no invisibilty states applied to either the attribute or block and all layers are switched on. I just tried making a quick block from scratch and it seems to have the same affect, except the default value will show, but no 'placeholder' shown if left blank. I swear with previous version I could see the tag when a value hadn't been applied, so is it that the version I now use (2012) does not have this feature or it's disabled? Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi guys, I've created this dynamic block for work. Its an overhead cupboard with 4 doors. My problem is that when i create a table through data extraction the value for the length and height for the doors aren't shown (The column this there with a heading, no value), the length of the cabinet and visibility is though. Do i need to assign an action or something for the value to be displayed? Thanks 4 DOOR OHC - ELEVATION.dwg
  5. Hi, I'm just trying my hand at learning to create some dynamic blocks, but need a solution to keep the text unrotated. I have attached a file of my troublesome file for you experts to look at, if possible. PileTest.dwg The file is basically a plan view of 4x foundation columns for overhead line towers (pylons). These towers can be different sizes and at different orientations, hence the dynamic options I have applied. However, when I rotate the block I want the text to rotate with it (to keep aligned with each column A, B, C, D), but I don't want rotation to be applied to the text, if that makes sense? Any ideas on the best way to achieve this? I have a feeling that constraints might work, although I know nothing about them, but these usually lag my PC. At present I am having to explode the block and apply a 0 rotation to all the text.
  6. Hi, I created an dynamic block few weeks ago and forgot to make it annotative. I try the ddchprop command, switch annotative to yes but it automatically immediately switch back to no. Could anyone help me with this please?
  7. Hi, My first post, any help would be appreciated. I have to create a dynamic block for our overhead cupboards. I've tried to do it myself but the solution is not forth coming and the brain is starting to hurt. I've attached a drawing to better illustrate what i want to do. It has the old style doors but i will create a new DB for the new style. The OHC will be inserted with the top left point. I then want to stretch the top right point to the appropiate length and have the 3 doors strech equally. The gap between the doors will be 22mm and must not change. The end gaps will vary because of door size but will stay within 31.2 mm to 32.7 mm (As close to 32mm as possible). Also the rh edge of the water level guages need to be 58mm from the rh door edge. Hope it made sense. Thanks Guys 3 DOOR OHC.dwg
  8. Hello! I'm working in a dynamic block and I think that I've had to mark or unmark some option in the program because since yesterday I can't use as an initial point of any parameter some central points. I mean, when I try to specify the initial point of any parameter (e.g.: rotation) where the four lines converge, the program tells me that the " 2d object is not valid". I hope I've explained myself right... Can you help me to restore anything that I might have changed? Thank you very much! Warp.dwg
  9. I am attaching a rotate parameter and action to a dynamic block. I get the "Specify base point" bit okay but I can't figure out what "Specify radius of parameter" does. Do I have to include or exclude other parameters like Flip or Stretch? I get some weird results when I rotate an object with other parameters. Is it possible to place the Grip in a specific place? It always seems to like to sit on top of another parameter name. Thanks
  10. I am drawing a large truck workshop and wish to show two 6m-wide roller doors at one end of the building. These are the doors that roll up on a reel above the door space, and roll down again to close. Can I download such a Dynamic Block of such a door from somewhere, and save it on my machine so that it shows in Tool Palettes and Design Center?
  11. Hi there, Having a very annoying issue regarding attributed text updating when reinserting a DB. I have text override in a dimension, inserted a field into the text override but whenever I reinsert the block and change the values, the text does not update. Thoughts?
  12. Hello all. I've lurked here for some time absorbing knowledge from various threads. I have finally run into a problem that I don't think the existing knowledge base covers. Here is my issue: I am attempting to create a circle keynote. The circle part of the keynote shall resize itself according to the width of the text in a fashion similar to how the TCIRCLE command draws a circle around text. I've banged my head against the wall all day trying to get this to work with dynamic blocks, but it is beyond me. Any help would be greatly appreciated
  13. Hi, I am new to dynamic blocks and I would like some advice. I have searched the web for a tutorial for this and I cannot find anything similar to what I want to achieve. I want to make a dynamic block of just text. I want to be able to insert a block with a drop down pick list of preset texts and select the text I want it to display. The attached file containing the various options of text I want to be able to pick from the list. I want to maintain the insertion point common to each text variation shown with a crosshair and the justification of the text as right and the height as 10. I would like to know how to add/remove variations to the block too. LINK TO FILE IF ATTACHMENT DOESN'T WORK https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12331630/ACAD/PROCESS%20TAG.dwg Does anyone know how to do this, I am not familiar at all with the controls in the block editor. Feel pretty dumb, however I know if you don;t ask questions you don't learn! Thanks PROCESS TAG.dwg
  14. OK Guys, I've been searching endlessly for a solution to this, and I just can't seem to get anything to work. I'm writing a lisp that adds a line of revision text to our title block. We have about 6 different sizes of it. We use a dynamic block for the title block text that uses a lookup table to set the size. Here's what I am trying to do... I want to write a LISP that can read the current value of the lookup table, and set an insertion point for my revision block based on the size of the title block. The block name that has the lookup is SG_SheetBlock2013, and the name of the lookup table property is "TBlock Size". Can anyone help out on this? Please!?
  15. Hi All, I'm having trouble getting my attribute definitions to work with my blocks. I'm trying to create a tag that can flip around (dynamic) and have a tag number easily entered (attribute). I notice that I could only get the attribute definition to work during a drawing insertion is when I wblocked out my block and inserted that drawing file. I was not able to insert the drawing file that had the block in it. I can't seem to make a dynamic block drawing file, and then insert that dynamic block drawing file if I want the attribute to work.. Do you understand?? EDIT: I got it after more fidgeting...
  16. Hello guys, I would like to create a "wave" dynamic block, see below... It is made from wipeout. Is it chance to make a similar? If I make a list for the length (from 125 to 350), after can I make a table /list /summary where these size are shown? Please help me if you can! Thank you! T
  17. I want to make a simple dynamic block showing a plan section of a window with one mullion between the window jambs. I've succeded making the block stretchable to any given length that is required. The problem is, that I can't figure out how to keep the mullion right in the middle between the jambs. Is there any simple way to get there using the actions and parameters in the block authoring palettes? Please help. Thanks
  18. I have a lisp that changes the visablity state of a block but i need a lisp that does somthing like descirped: if visablity state = INPUT1 set visablity state to INPUT2 (defun c:set1 (/ ss ans i blk dp scale) (if (and (setq ss (ssget "_:L" '((0 . "INSERT")))) (not (initget 1 "1:1 1:2 1:2.5 1:5 1:10 1:20 1:25 1:50 1:100 1:200 1:250 1:500 1:1000 1:2000 1:2500 1:5000 1:50000 ")) (setq ans (getkword "\nChoose Visibility [1:1/1:2/1:2.5/1:5/1:10/1:20/1:25/1:50/1:100/1:200/1:250/1:500/1:1000/1:2000/1:2500/1:5000/1:50000]: ") )) (repeat (setq i (sslength ss)) (setq blk (vlax-ename->vla-object (ssname ss (setq i (1- i))))) (cond (and (eq (vla-get-IsDynamicBlock blk) :vlax-true) (setq dp (car (vl-remove-if-not '(lambda (k) (eq (vla-get-PropertyName k ) "RMS_SCALE_VIS" ) ) (vlax-invoke blk 'GetDynamicBlockProperties ) ) ) ) (if (eq ans "1:1") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_1")) (if (eq ans "1:2") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_2")) (if (eq ans "1:2.5") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_2.5")) (if (eq ans "1:5") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_5")) (if (eq ans "1:10") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_10")) (if (eq ans "1:20") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_20")) (if (eq ans "1:25") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_25")) (if (eq ans "1:50") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_50")) (if (eq ans "1:100") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_100")) (if (eq ans "1:200") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_200")) (if (eq ans "1:500") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_500")) (if (eq ans "1:1000") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_1000")) (if (eq ans "1:2000") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_2000")) (if (eq ans "1:2500") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_2500")) (if (eq ans "1:5000") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_5000")) (if (eq ans "1:50000") (setq scale "RTA_SCALE_50000")) (vlax-put dp 'Value scale) ) ) ) ) ) (princ)
  19. Hi, I had created a dynamic door block (my first one). As the block has door frame section on both ends, i need to place the linear distance parameter near the door hinge (and not on the basepoint for block insertion). This extends the door by 4" from the value of door opening i manually enter. Suppose i enter 42", the resultant opening will be 46". Any way to fix this. Also, how can i make the block to accept only predefined sizes like 2'9", 3'0" etc
  20. Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and this is my first thread. So here goes: I've developed a dynamic block for a standard bulb flat profile cross section using parametric constraints to alter the sizes of the profile. I also made six visibility states for altering the penetration type of the profile through a construction element. It works like a charm on smaller drawings, but on a typical master sectional drawing the file size increases up to 20 or so MB given to the fact that there are over 4000 copies of the block in the one drawing (the dyn block itself is around 100 KB). This makes the drawing almost impossible to work with as you may well imagine. I uploaded the block if you want to take a look at it. Maybe I'm missing something here because I have searched online for similar problems and found very little occurrences of the same. I tried auditing, -purging, wblock to another file, everything I could find or think of nothing seems to help. Is it just the way it is with files containing so many dynamic blocks or is there a way to make it work. I would appreciate any help on this. HP profile.dwg

    Section Callout

Need some attribute help, The company I work for uses this attached block for calling out sections. I would like to know if its possible to enter the variable once and both change at the same time or if there is completely new approach than the block I submitted? Thanks Carlo Section Call.dwg
  22. Hey everyone! First time poster, long time user. I run Autocad 2010LT at work, where I do fire alarm drawings. I've been trying to create a dynamic block (sort of a one stop-shop) for my wiring diagrams, and wanted to include device text with it. My question is, is there a way I can create a dynamic block with multiple visibility states where each state has it's own independent/editable attribute definition? Basically what I'm trying to acheive is the ability to make a different description layout for each one of my device types. (They all have a different function, and a different address style) Really so I can minimize the time I spend edititng the formats when I'm trying to crank out a plan review ASAP. Any help would be VERY much appreciated!! Thank you everyone!
  23. I have a rather unusual problem. I'm using AutoCADLT2013. I have a dynamic block, with chained parameters. The block works perfectly, however, I'm expanding the contents, and trying to add more polylines to existing actions. I have the following Actions showing: Stretch, Lookup, and Visibility. All of these actions are on unchained Parameters. The 2 Actions I'm missing are Arrays, both on chained Parameters with no Grips. I've used BACTIONBAR on both Parameters (Show, then Hide, then Show again, I don't want to use Reset!), yet the Action Bars still won't show! I've been messing for nigh on 2 hours and I can't figure it out. To make things worse, I can't use the Parameter Manager, due to it disappearing when in Block Editor. I really don't want to have to start again, as it was a right pain in the rectum to get to work right. Any ideas?
  24. Ok, so I recently found how I can apply a dynamic rotation to a block, keep the text/attribute positioning relative to the original location, but not actually rotate. It's perfect and I'm excited to implement it in my company. However, I'm also working on a few ribbon tabs that will have a bunch of these blocks (different symbols and/or attributes). Right now I'm simply using macros to insert the block, and bypass any steps necessary for that particular block (scale, rotate, etc). However, with a traditional block I need to use a LISP routine that was created years ago here at our company to rotate the attributes (I think it was created before AutoCAD had the function? I don't know, I've only been using CAD for about 8.5 years). I'm trying to do the following in as much automation as possible: Insert Dynamic Block Scale based on USERR1 value Force rotation to 0 degrees Allow for user input of Attribute(s) Select the (only) Dynamic Rotation Grip Allow for user input of Dynamic Rotation Repeat all of the above until cancelled I'm pretty sure this is only doable via LISP, but I know NOTHING about LISP programming, and was hoping someone could help out. I've attached one of the many blocks I have with this "auto-aligning" text feature. Thanks in advance! SAMPLE.dwg
  25. I am having trouble trying to add text to a dynamic block that will stay locked and centered when I stretch it left/right and up/down. The default text I am looking to have should be 36x24 (36 is the lenght of the unit, 24 is the depth). Does anyone know if this is possible to do? I can also upload my block if it helps. Thanks, Art
